Perilous Gateways notes a dragon-crafted portal in these Mountains. It links to, inter alia, the Raurin Desert and mentions the presence of blue and brown dragons there. This explains the presence of blue dragons in the Dragonspine Mountains and Moonsea North even though this is completely unexpected (as blue dragons – notwithstanding 4E’s changes – belong in the desert).
