The Chronicles of a Dead Empire

Ibestral mejusa

Mujesa is the larger of Zela’s two moons. It is the moon that affects the planet the most, setting the tides and winds into motion. It has a consistent orbit around Zela, and is regarded in most legends as the “wise moon” that represents stability and longevity. Mujesa also is the closest moon to Zela, and usually eclipses the smaller moon, Ibestral.

Most divine magics are affected by Mujesa, but there is a period every 350 years when Ibestral’s orbit takes is closer to Zela, and it eclipses Mujesa, opening a gate to the Outer Realms. This is own as the Dark Portal Opening. This is a time when dark magics are very powerful, and things from the Outer Realms are free to enter Zela’s material plane. This eclipse lasts for a month, then for another month Mujesa and Ibestral share the same orbit and are mere miles from each other, this known as the Dark Portal Closing. During this time, magic loses power, with Mujesa canceling out Ibestral’s magical influence.

Mujesa is roughly the same size of the earthly moon.
