The Tower of the Sages is located in Lis. The Tower is the public face of the Royal University and is the center of all learning in the Mathojan khzardom. Many learners have made careers exploring the books, scrolls and tablets warehoused in and underneath the Tower. It is speculated that the Sages that lead the university know many secrets from their research, but choose to keep the information to themselves.

The Tower itself houses the most esteemed of the Sages with the topmost part of the tower reserved for the “highest learner” or the Nalavi Kovek. The Nalavi Kovek oversees the Olvai Kovek, or the teachers of the University. They too are in residence in the Tower. Between the Nalavi and Olvai’s levels is the Library of Secrets, which is only accessible by the highest of the Olvai and the Nalavi. The bottom two levels of the Tower are devoted to accepting visitors and offices for the Nalavi and Olvai. Students and esteemed visitors are only allowed on the bottom floor by appointment only. Although the Khzar does not need an appointment, but even he is bound to stay on the bottom levels by ancient tradition. Otherwise it is trespassing, even for the Khzar. The outer doors are guarded by guards provided by the Drugdan and Star’s Source temples.
