The Orcs are one of the younger races of Aiah. According to legend, they were created at the end of the Demon War from the blood of the Murdered God. They have a violent origin and a violent nature, but they are not the evil savages they are often depicted to be.
Orcs are a big, strong folk, a little larger than humans. They are broad shouldered, powerfully muscled, and the biggest of them stand 7 feet tall and weigh 300 pounds. Orcs have coarse dark hair, dark eyes, and brown or black skin that often has a shade of green or gray. They live about as long as Humans. Orcs value strength and bravery, and have little patience for academic pursuits. They usually live in hunter-gatherer tribes of up to a few hundred. They don’t build schools or temples or libraries, but instead tribal elders teach the children wood and leather working, hunting, fishing, woodscraft, herbalism, and the art of war and battle. Orcs don’t have academies or colleges for magic the way other races do, but they do have strong shamanistic traditions. Tribes are led by their strongest members or best warriors. Orcs most often worship gods that advocate strength and power, especially Acadia and Kord. Some tribes will openly worship (or at least pay homage to) Asmodeus or Tiamat as well.
Orc tribes can be found in every region of Aiah. They prefer hills, valleys, and plains, but they can thrive in any terrain. Orcs have had no great empires, but they have been the downfall of a few. Every once in a while, a leader comes along who can unite the myriad Orc tribes and set off on a continent spanning rampage of conquest, but these great hordes never outlive their leaders.
