The Dark Cathedral, Grimlocks Die in Defense of the Cavern, Session Twenty Three
As I scried the activities of the four heroes I could not help but smile. I felt a strong pride as I observed them from afar. Grog the half-orc barbarian rogue stealthily moved ahead of the always stern and aggressive female Aasimar warrior Nyphystra. The two were followed by Cha’ti the Caller, a human druid from the Dales, his alpha male wolf Shadow, and Twexlin the deadly human ranger also from the Dales. The foursome moved slowly up the lone tunnel with grog in the lead searching for enemy signs. As Grog approached a large cavern complex he came under attack from Grimlock defenders. The party was assaulted by ranged weapons, and quickly acted in response with ranged assaults of their own. Cha’ti placed an orb of fire making it roll up a singular tunnel which scattered the enemy and allowing for his comrades to scale a ledge and make an assault of their own.
The Grimlocks recovered quickly and came back on the offense, but Twexlin was able to keep them at aby with well-placed arrows. As Cha’ti and Twexlin fought the defenders to the northwest, Nyphystra and Grog were forewarned when they heard a loud battle cry. A hulking Grimlock with ritualistic tattoos and scars raged. The simplistic designs formed Bhaal’s holy symbol upon his chest. Tribal bone piercings and paint marked this wild looking fanatic as the Grimlock Chieftain. Nyphystra screamed a battle cry of her own calling upon Torm to make her strike true. Grog moved into an advantageous position to deal deadly damage with his long spear. The three combatants made for a heroic scene, but the two heroes were too much for the crazy minded Grimlock. Before I knew it the savage chieftain fell to the heroes’ onslaught. The fight came to a close, and the heroes searched the two cave dwelings that shot off of the main cavern. I watched them with swelling pride. I could not wait to put there heroics into song.
