Year of the Ageless One 1479 Dale Reckoning, March 2

Having defeated a few Netherese soldiers the group finds itself in the remnants of an old guard room. Pieces of ruined armor and weapons litter the floor and hang from the walls. A few moments of searching turns up nothing of interest so the party heads into deeper into the tower. As Graevan enters what looks to be a bunk room two pools of shadow rise from the floor…

Bolts of deep purple energy wash over his back, the strange shadow snake creatures responding to the parties intrusion on their domain… quickly responding the party strikes back meeting shadow with steel and fire, and Graevan notices that the snakes are actually wards and manages to disrupt their connection with the Shadowdark. Having dispelled the creatures they finish their search of the room uncovering the soldier’s stash of goods.

Heading up the tower stairs the party passes through a doorway into a shadowed room… and end up in a flat featureless place. A voice intones a warning in Netherese, and undead creatures appear around the perimeter of the stone island… skeletal huntsmen, rotting dogs, shadow soldiers and a skeleton wreathed in black flame. A stiff fight ensues with the party ultimately emerging victorious….

And then they are back in the original room… old and worn bas-reliefs cover the walls depicting scenes of rising suns. Two stone plinths stand at the ends of the room, their statues long gone. A moment of reflection passes as everyone wonders what is going on and then appears
the ghostly form of one of Lathanders old servants… weakened from time, the depredations of the shadows and the rebirth of Amaunator he tells the party a small ammount of the towers history. That it housed a relic of the dawnlord, a Sunblade, and that the shadowlords seek it’s destruction. He asks that they rescue it, if any bit of it remains, and to hurry on their way he grants them the gift of one last dawn… refreshing them for the coming battle.
