The first time I ever played Shadowrun one of my buddies relied heavily on this double album for music and it was the first time I had ever hear it. It is dark, powerful, and moody and full of amazing sound textures that gave his world such a unique feel. Some of the songs fit into the “industrial” label perfectly (for example “Somewhat Damaged”, “We’re in this Together”,“Into the Void”), while others are more complex instrumentals that sound like they were written for a film score (see below), and still others made you feel like the last man on a now vacant Earth (“The Day The World Went Away”, The Great Below"). The following tracks are instrumentals: “The Frail”, “Just Like You Imagined”, “Pilgrimage”, “La Mer”, “The Way Out is Through” (well almost), “The Mark Has Been Made” (One of my all time favorite songs to use for those moments when someone or something crosses over to the dark side), “Complication”, “Ripe with Decay” (another great evil song). If you like these instrumentals you should check out Ghosts I-IV.
