Episode 002

Opening Scene
The camera fades in on another night in Gotham City. The moon peeks out behind the clouds, the very clouds that used to carry a shining light of hope. The 1950’s art deco buildings, topped with their Gothic gargoyles, loom over the decaying fringes that seem to grow thicker every day. Rain patters down on the streets drowning down, but not out, the sound of traffic.
A quick fade transitions our scene from the landscape of Gotham City to the exterior of Blackgate Penitentiary The large steel gates start grinding open as the motors struggle to pull the maximum security gates back. A massive figure is silhouetted in the Gotham night, and he just stands there until the gates are fully opened. He takes a few steps towards the camera and the gates start their laborious journey closed. Lighining cracks and for a half second the man is illuminated. His skin, a mess of green scales, gives him away. Killer Croc smiles at the Gotham night and says, “Not a moment too soon. I’m finally free.”
Title Screen
The title card comes up, a broken, rusted, and bloody Batarang in center screen with the words “Gotham Nights” written in the lower right corner. A scrolling shot along a wall features news articles from the last year. Light shines across select headlines “BANE BREAKS BAT!” with the accompanying picture of Batman laying broken in Gotham Square. “ROBIN CONFIRMED DEAD!” with a distance shot of a funeral procession including Batman, Superman, and other notable heroes. “JOKER SHOOTS BATGIRL!” with a picture of a masked woman laying in a hospital bed. The scroll picks up but other headlines can still be seen, “HAS WONDER WOMAN ABANDONED EARTH?”, “SUPERMAN DEAD”, “WHERE IS THE GREEN LANTERN?”, and “GREEN ARROW RETURNED TO METROPOLIS!” The screen fades to black and the episode title fades in, “Free at Last”
