Darian Haraxes may have been a Praetor for quite some time, though his stature as such an administrative figure in Balic has only come recently. Androphinis seems determined to fulfill his orders to eradicated defilers from the city of sails.
On Mist 10th, Year of Priest’s Defiance, Darian appeared before a large crowd of Balicians to announce the Praetorian role in weeding out defilers. He brought three captured and accused defilers onto a platform before the mob of gatherers and attempted to have the three suspects (who turned out to be Grobulus, Korvath, and Zagaulo) decapitated. Hanibaal, Dalamar, and Nataku were present at the event, and before Darian head the executioners kill the Veiled members, Hanibaal interrupted in an attempt to halt the execution by attempting to persuade everyone present that killing them would be wrong. Hanibaal suggested that killing them would be dangerous, and it was better to ship them off to Uriah’s Keep instead.
Darian paused to hear Hanibaal speak, as Demontes’ oratory skills proved to draw his attention. However, after Hanibaal’s plea was spoken, Darian called for their deaths anyway. The headsmen heaved their great bone axes and chopped at their heads in synchronization. When their axes struck, the bodies of Zagaulo, Grobulus, and Korvath all dissipated, which proved them to be very real illusions in place of their real selves. Darian, furious and embarrassed, stormed off to attempt to find the captured criminals. He had Hanibaal arrested by Balician Balician Legionary soldiers. Darian released Hanibaal the next day as he was no longer a suspect of the act.
