Dateline: 16th September 2010cy, 4.30PM
Driven on by smoke and rising heat, you and the surviving Townies with you exit the chamber of the puppet-mistress and press on. Down the passage, the flagged stone walls give way to roughly hewn stone shored up by thick timber and then to a cleft in the end wall which gives out onto a larger cavern. Near the cleft, the prone and still unconscious form of Old Man Merschman lies twitching in insane dreams.Dr. Orson Hall: :: Dr. Hall, body and soul one once more, steps up to the Old Man, kneeling down next to him to see what may have struck him. ::
GMTown: ::stooping close, Hall scents the whiff of Billy’s foul btreath still clinging to the Old Man’s skin::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona turns to Mort:: “I think you have your chance.”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall turns back to Billy. :: “Looks like Mort brought him here. But where is he?” :: He stands back up, looking around the cavern, searching for anything moving or any other entrances. ::
GMTown: ::Fiona realizes Mort isn’t with the party – which explains how the Old Man got there::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona looks around for Mort:: “He has slinked off, so it seems.”
Billy Lee: ::Billy kneels down to pick up the now dead mask and stares into it’s dead eyes::“We should kill him, you know that right? He’s dangerous to us all. Especially if we carry him down further.”
Dr. Orson Hall: “Should we kill him, Mort will take it as an affront upon his honor. Creating that kind of schism in our ranks at this juncture is unlikely to be a wise idea.”
Billy Lee: ::Still staring into it’s eyes absently:: "That’s the bitch of it isn’t it? It’s as it should be as I guess. The will of Annexia will be done. ::Crosses himself::
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall turns to Billy. :: “You do know that Annexia is the Yellow King, right? The father of the ungodly mass we came here to kill?”
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona sighs:: “But the Old Man is a bigger threat. He could destroy our endevours with his continued breath. We must do something with him.”
Billy Lee: ::Billy grins at Doc’s comment as he puts the mask into the bag on his hip::“Annexia, like all mythological places, gains power from it’s believers and is in a constant state of change. Heaven, Hell or Annexia, it’s what you will it to be. My will is strong as are my fellow agents out there.”
Dr. Orson Hall: “Yes, but the person giving you your orders is literally the Yellow King. You were sent here by him, as an Agent of his.”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall shrugs as he continues to speak with Billy, and pulls out a familiar syringe, plunging it into the Old Man’s neck. :: “This should all be over in a few hours – long enough that he’ll still be completely out of it from this fluni shot.”
Dr. Orson Hall: “That should allow Mort to keep his oath, and keep the Old Man from interfering.”
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona continues surveying the area with intent, but speaks in the direction of Billy:: “Forgive me Billy, but you both have a point. You’re will can shape the raw chaos of Hastur into something benevolent, because Hastur’s shape of evil is only as it is by those who worshiped him as something evil. But it is Hastur. Annexia is Hastur.”
Billy Lee: ::Pulls out his pistol and checks the cylinder:: “Let’s finish this.” ::pulls the a few candy colored mix of pills and pops them without bothering to glance at them::
Fiona Longham: “Anyone need ammo?”
GMTown: ::Jim:: Hang on a second. I think I know where we are. This is the old Onslow Mine, I think. It was closed back in, oh, the 30s.
Billy Lee: ::Nods:: Annexia is named many things. Like Mort is well aware of, there’s power in a name. Knowing the true face of something gives you the power to change it. Isn’t that right Doc?" ::Gives him a wink::
Dr. Orson Hall: “I think I brought enough; thank you, though, Fiona.”
GMTown: But – there should be a route to the surface, even so.
GMTown: C’mon – this way to freedom! ::Jim steps through the cleft and begins to walk down a slope on the other side. Townies crowd to follow::
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall follows Jim, but is wary – with only a single way out, this would be an excellent location for an ambush. ::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona keeps her gun in a guarded position, and follows Jim and Orson.::
GMTown: ::beyond, there’s a vast cavern, 60 wide and 40 high. You’ve come in halfway up the wall on a ledge with a steep incline down into which are cut some stairs. On the floor of the cavern lies a massive worm-like form, which stirs. You see Mort leap out from behind a rocky outcrop, sword drawn, and fling himself at the creature::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona looks to the others:: “Should we help him?”
Billy Lee: ::Chuckles:: “I’m not sure that he needs it.”
GMTown: ::Leaping high as he runs, Mort lands with his sword raised high to plunge into the worm’s flesh. There’s a flash of intense cold as the magical ice blade bites deeply into it’s pale and sickly flesh::
GMTown: ::The worm instantly slumps, a vast rent opened in it’s flesh and ichor running freely out of it, covering Mort from head to foot in sticky clear goo::
GMTown: ::Coming closer, you can see that the worm-squid-thing had tough skin on its head and tentacles, but the main body, thirty feet long, was soft and squishy.
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall steps up to Mort and the beast. :: “Had an adventerous outing without us, I see. You even slew the dragon.”
Dr. Orson Hall: “Well. Eel. Or graboid.”
Mort: “I was worried it might have to be you friend, that stunt up there with Billy put the fear into me ::A hard glint enters his eyes even as his smile remains:: and I trust the Old Man is well enough alone back above?”
GMTown: ::Jim:: Oh shit. I’ll get him!
Dr. Orson Hall: “Drugged to the gills. No idea whether he’ll be physically safe – not sure about anyone around here right now – but he’ll be no threat, and we didn’t have to kill him. Billy, meanwhile, has been cured of the malificent force that had possessed him and made him start eating human brains.”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall puts his hand on the great worm’s hide, frowning. :: “I almost wish you hadn’t slewn the beast. Would have been an excellent ride…” :: As he looks at it, he slowly gauges its health. ::
Billy Lee: ::Makes a face:: It wasn’t pleasent but it was very – insightful. ::Spits onto the floor::
Dr. Orson Hall: “Damned thing’s too utterly different for me to tell how injured it is. But now I’ve gone and convinced myself to try something…”
Mort: “That is good news ::Mort clasps Hall’s shoulder:: as far as the wurn, perhaps another beast lays beyond. Once the godlings soul is mine you’re welcome to it’s shell. God’s often linger on in some form after their death, perhaps you can use that.”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall pauses for a moment, concentrating, then a vaguely blue form spills forth from his body. The spirit approaches the great beast… ::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona stares carefully:: “Be carefull, doctor.”
Billy Lee: ::Walks over to it as he pulls out a syringe:: “I could try if you like”
GMTown: ::Hall’s astral form rebounds from the alien mind of the worm – which begins to stir afresh as it is awakened by his intrusion::
GMTown: ((Init: Mort & Hall’s Body,Fiona, Billy,Worm. Astral Hall stunned for 2 seconds))
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall’s physical body curses when he sees the worm beginning to get up. :: “Damn it all! I was looking forward to riding that thing into battle like a damned dragonrider!”
GMTown: ::Mort leaps to interpose himself between the creature and Fiona, drawing his sword::
Dr. Orson Hall: :: He swiftly pulls his revolver back out of the holster. ::
Fiona Longham: This message has been removed.
GMTown: ::TThe dozen or so townspeople scatter in fear::
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall backpedels swiftly as the beast gets up, attempting to fire three shots into its hide from near zero range as he tries to get as far away as possible. ::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona points her pistol at the worm and fires::
GMTown: ::Two of Hall’s bullets impact with almost explosive effects on the worm’s soft main body, blowing out chunks of flesh::
GMTown: ::Fiona follows with 3 bullets from her .45, with equally dramatic effect. The thing shudders and slumps, then immediately begins to rot at an unbelievably accelerated rate. The stench is unbelievable as it deliquesces into a puddle of greenish-brown slop within seconds::
GMTown: ::Jim, returning with Aldous in an effortless fireman’s carry:: Wow, that’s my girl.
Billy Lee: ::Billy watches it melt away:: I guess I can save this for me. ::Puts the cap back on the syringe::
Fiona Longham: “Phew” ::Fiona exclaims, while scrunching her face and reloading her pistol::
Mort: “Humm ::Morts heart flame burns a sickly green on its tips with the fetid air:: my way was far cleaner”
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona smiles and gives Jim an affectionate look::
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall begins reloading his heavy revolver, a frown on his face as his shoes get covered in goo. ::
GMTown: ::Jim:: Look, up there. ::On the other side of the cavern is a tunnel, halfway up the side, reached by a rickety wooden ladder. Electric light gleams faintly from somewhere down the passgaeway::
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall’s spirit sadly re-enters his body, stomping the ground like an angry little boy. Hall collapses and pukes up a few more ounces of ectoplasm, but shortly gets back up. ::
GMTown: ::There’s also a tunnel, worm-wide, leading off into stygian darkness from one end of the cavern::
Mort: “And so we go ::Geimhreadh begins pouring forth a thick mist again before Mort sheaths the blade:: into the womb at last”
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona looks down the worm-sized hole:: “Would you think it suicide to go down a hole like this?”
Mort: “I’ve lived a thosand lifetimes in shadow, but for your sakes, does anyone have a light?”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall steps forwards after getting the last of the ectoplasm out. :: “I think that hole likely leads out to where we fought it while it attacked the Coven, or to a large network of such holes.”
Dr. Orson Hall: “I think it behooves us to examine the light up there, first.”
Billy Lee: "Huh. I wonder what it tasted like. The giant aquatic Brazilian centipedes – " ::Shakes his head and turns toword the tunnel::
Billy Lee: ::Turns to his unseen wife:: Yes, thank you. Joan says we should head toward the latter. What we seek is there, in the Merschman’s temple."
Mort: “Very well, Joan has been right more often than not.”
GMTown: ::Jim:: who wants to go up that ladder first, then?
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall turns to Mort. :: “I think this is where being a headless immortal might come in handy. Up you go, Mort.”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: He turns to the others. :: “That way, if there’s something up there waiting to cut our heads off as we ascend, it’ll just hit empty air when it goes for the fairy’s.”
Fiona Longham: ::Smirks:: “Good point. I vote Mort first.”
Mort: “So be it ::the flames lick happily at the air:: it would hurt me far more to see your heads lobbed off” – ::Mort begins the long ascent::
GMTown: ::At the top of the ladder, nothing tries to cut Mort’s head off. Instead, he sees a passageway of rough-hewn stone sloping gently upwards. Beyond about sixty feet, the passage is lit by dim electic bulbs strung from the roof and lined with small wooden crates, each about a foot square and six inches high. In places, the crates are stacked four feet high.::
Mort: “It’s safe ::Mort reaches down to help the rest up out of the hole:: might want to spare a moment to check these crates though.”
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona follows Mort up the ladder::
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Orson is directly behind Fiona. ::
GMTown: :Jim climbs one-handed, showing uncommon strength as he carries the Old Man::
Billy Lee: ::Billy comes up last::
GMTown: ::As you approach the lit area, you can see that the passageway slopes steeply upwards after some forty feet, to a strong-looking brass door with three massive locks, easily opened from the inside by levers. Midway along the left hand wall is another brass door. the edge of the door is covered in eye-watering runic symbols and a single rune is inlaid in gold on the door’s face::

Dr. Orson Hall: “This looks problematic.”
Mort: “Hall, I think you’re wurm would have been useful here ::knocking on the dense door:: imposing”
Billy Lee: ::Billy walks toward the door with one hand in his pocket and the other reaches out to touch the door’s face::
Billy Lee: ::He pauses for a few moments, then brings out his other hand, balled into a fist, as he slams it flat onto the door::
GMTown: ::there’s a muted click and the door swings open about six inches. Once it’s open, you can hear chanting from beyond – perhaps a dozen voices, oddly modulated and harmonizing::
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall turns to Billy. :: “The fuck was that?”
GMTown: ::Jim:; This looks like my cue to take these people up and out. If i guess right, that’s the bank building beyond that other door::
Billy Lee: ::Closes his fist slowly and grins:: "A key of course. Let’s go. ::Begins humming softly::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona nods to Jim:: “That would be for the best. We don’t even know what’s in the crates, so we’re swamped in a dangerous level of unknown.”
Mort: ::A questioning expression burns at Hall:: “O, Hastur let us in then…”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall shakes his head at Jim. :: “There is no escaping this fight. If we fail here, then these souls are just snacks to be eaten later.”
GMTown: ::Jim:: I think I do, hon. That’s the bank’s bullion, that is.
Dr. Orson Hall: “But go up top; find the Macha Coven, and send them down here. If we don’t come back out, come back down with as many weapons and as much dynamite as you can get and blow this whole place the fuck up.”
Dr. Orson Hall: “It probably won’t work, but it’s better than nothing.”
Fiona Longham: “But with Merschmann’s here, they could very well have stashed unsavory tricks in them.”
GMTown: ::Jim, serious faced:: Will do, Doc. ::he kisses his wife deeply:: I expect you to come back, however you manage it, ok? I did, so you have to. ::he motions the townspeople to follow him::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona smiles back to him.:: “I love you.”
Mort: “Its my duty to deliver you into her safety Jim, I’ll make sure she is able to recieve”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall shoes Jim along. :: “Yes, yes, we all love you and when we get out you can give Fiona a hideous werewolf/witch hybrid baby; just wait for the conception until after we leave, lest it be a hideous werewolf/witch/Cthulhoid monster baby.”
GMTown: ::Jim growls, deep:: Bear, Doc. Bear! ::then he opens the vault door and moves cautiously through it::
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall stage-whispers to Fiona. :: “Uhoh. You might want to visit Planned Parenthood after we get out to make sure you aren’t carrying a wolf.” :: He winks to the lovebirds. ::
Billy Lee: Fiona, what do you make of the runes? I’m sure I may pass unnoticed but I don’t know about the rest of you.
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona chuckles:: “Doc I would shoot you any other day for that.”
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona composes herself and looks upon it::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona frowns:: “Oh dear. That will need remedy.”
Fiona Longham: “Nasty tricks. Give me a moment.”
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona grimmaces as her ritual fails::
Dr. Orson Hall: “What’s the issue? What does this rune do?”
Fiona Longham: “Guys, this door has some really nasty imbuements on it. Stuff that I would not mess with. I’m not capable enough to break them on my own.”
Mort: “Can they harm me Fiona, I would trigger them if it would get us to our goal”
Fiona Longham: “A ward against spirits and a trick that will take a portion of our souls, leading any of us to be controlled by the caster. I would not not trifle with the effects, because they have been reinforced over the years for extra strength.”
Fiona Longham: “We need to destroy these enchantments before we can continue.”
GMTown: ::From beyond the door, the chanting begins to cresendo – then the electic lights flicker and explode in a shower of sparks, sending everything into pitch darkness::
Dr. Orson Hall: “Would these enchantments happen to do anything at all to, say, explosives?”
Dr. Orson Hall: “Because now would be a great time to just chuck some dynamite into the room.”
Mort: “If I can challenge the ward I should be able to get withing striking distance and dash the magiks”
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona ponders the thought:: “The fragments are likely to be considerably weakened in effect upon the explosion. That might be a good idea.”
Dr. Orson Hall: “Or we could try going through the wall. If only we had a fifty foot long death worm to do it with.”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall sighs. ::
Fiona Longham: “Do we have any magical foci? If we could collect them together, then use our combined effort, we have a decent chance of collapsing the enchantments.”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall looks down at his revolver, Mort’s sword, and over at Billy’s pack, with the demon-mask. ::
Mort: “We are joined by the Greenman’s boons, could they allow us to focus upon you in any way Fiona?”
Billy Lee: ::steps towards the door again puting his hand against the runes:: I may need some help girls. ::looks at Fiona and someone standing beside her who’s not there::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona leans in to give whatever help she can::
Fiona Longham: “Everyone join! These rings give us a sympathetic tie to Billy’s effort!”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall shrugs, but focuses his considerable will upon his link to Billy through the green man’s rings. ::
Mort: “He must have seen ::Mort stripes off his heavy leather glove and places a hand upon Billy:: we would need his aid”
GMTown: ::Billy sweats as he contests the rune magic – then the runes flare and become inert even to those with mage sight::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona relaxes after the effort:: “Great work guys. Let’s see this to the end.”
Mort: ::Mort touches the ring fondly before slipping his glove back on:: “Aye, no more magic to hide behind”
GMTown: ::beyond the door lies a strange corridor::
Billy Lee: ::Billy steps in with a smile::

Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall steps through the hole, weapon raised and at the ready. ::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona follows, double checking the rounds in her gun.::
Dr. Orson Hall: “Non-euclidean space. A fucking Escher painting.”
GMTown: ::The windows are blank – looking onto nothing, it seems, although you might feel you glimpse something out of the corner of your eye moving in the dark beyond the glass::
Mort: “Seen worse in the Sithen, Hastur will need to do better than this to disturb the coming of death”
GMTown: ::the corridor disorients the sense, leaving you vaguely dizzy. At the far end, it gives onto an antechamber, in which several robes hang on hooks. Two paintings adorn the left and right hand walls.::

Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall looks on the painting of the wife, frowning. :: “Vaguely attractive, but definitely creepy.”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: He also takes in the robes. :: “But these… these might be useful.”
Mort: “So a face is given to my final charge”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall grabs one of the robes off of the hook and shrugs it on. ::
GMTown: :;A door in the opposite wall is ajar, and from it comes a Mayor Merschman’s voice, exultant:: It is done! The sleeper begins to wake and the Gates will all be opened! my darling, my kinsmen, we are near the end of our beginning. We will sit on His right hand!
Billy Lee: ::Billy takes one of the robes and carefully puts it on, humming under his breath::
Mort: ::Mort begins running towards the voice “I believe thats our cue” his blade in hand before the second long stride::
GMTown: ::A plethora of voices answers him, male and female:: yes, our beloved. Now we must make haste for the birthing!
Fiona Longham: ::Cocks her gun:: “Indeed it is.”
GMTown: The door opens.

Billy Lee: ::Billy puts his gun in his hand and folds the robes sleeves over each other to conceal it::
GMTown: ((Init: Mayor, Hall, Billy & Fiona, Mort, Amalgum))
GMTown: ::The Mayor’s semblance melts away, to reveal the mishapen and madenning monstrosity he really is::

GMTown: ::The terrible sight is enough to leave Doctor hall stunned. He seems to wither in the mayor’s true presence as if the Mayor is feeding on his very essence, loosened by terror::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona raises her hands into ritual casting::
Billy Lee: ::Billy rushes forward, toward the amalgum and screams::
GMTown: ::the massive amalgum zombie recoils from Billy’s primal noise, as if disoriented::
Billy Lee: ::turns and shouts to Fiona:: We can Bind it to OUR will now! Together we can do this!"
Mort: ::The heartflame burns high as Mort glazes on the godling made flesh:: “For Slitherend!” ::His hand glows with weight of sin and the clean darkness of death::
GMTown: ::Mort’s Hand of Power reaches out to touch the massive mound of deathless Merschman flesh, crushing it mercilessly, and it screams from a dozen misshapen throats::
GMTown: ::The Amalgum avoids Mort, but lashes out at Billy as it’s other tormenter, only to miss by a wide margin::
GMTown: ((Inits: Hall, Fiona, Amalgum & Mort, Mayor & Billy))
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall recovers from the initial shock to his brain; he takes a defensive stance while a blue blur streaks out from his body and towards the Mayor. ::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona abandons the ritual, and brandishes her Warrant Card at the Mayor:: “In the name of Director Mathers and the Black Chamber, I abdure thee and command thee to surrender to judgement!”
GMTown: ::Mayor Merschman stops in his tracks and stands quietly and silently, doing nothing::
Mort: ::Reaching a hand out to the monster " Mary Frye-Merschman, your husband will follow you into a better life. Go with my blessing" focusing his will Mort sends her soul on to the Mother with all his strength and prayers::
Mort: “You will not have her Hastur”
GMTown: ::One of the misshapen heads of the Amalgum lolls, lifeless, as the soul-form of Mary flies free – then hurtles past everyone and down the corridor as if drawn by an inexorable force!::
Dr. Orson Hall: “I guess we know where the New Name is.”
GMTown: ::Mayor Merschman:: So it begins, as fortold. I unbind you, my kinsmen. N’garn alosht m’gyltha Hastur n’kash!
Fiona Longham: “To know it is to have power over it. Once learned, I can Banish it.”
GMTown: ::the Amalgum falls apart, resolving into seperate bodies of rotting, decayed flesh which surrender their souls to the force that draws them rapidly away::
GMTown: ::There’s a sudden surge of power in the air, as if an unheard great bell had tolled, and Billy staggers::
GMTown: ::Mayor Merschman:: At last, after over a century.
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall curses as he passes by the Mayor. :: “We must deliver this man his Justice soon, but I’m afraid if we kill him his soul will enter the birthing process, which would be no justice at all. Tell me, Mayor – how can we give you true justice?”
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona stomps behind Mayor Merschmann, jabs her gun into the back of his skull, and fires::
GMTown: ::the Mayor drops, his brains spewing across the wall. His soul rushes out along the same path the others took::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona hisses angrily:: “At last, after over a century” ::She mocks::
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall tries to stop Fiona from doing it, but is too late. :: “You fucking idiot!”
Dr. Orson Hall: “You probably just gave the fetus the last piece that it needed!”
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona turns to him:: “The New Name was slaved to him. The New Name is now unbound, masterless, and disorriented.”
Dr. Orson Hall: “If it was slaved to him, it was slaved to you, through the Card – at least for the next short while. Now we’re just plain fucked. Great going. Great going.”
GMTown: ::There’s a tremor which shakes the room::
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Both Halls shake their heads as they head down the tunnel where the souls went. ::
Mort: ::Mort sinks to his knees in grief and exhaustion::
GMTown: ::Beyond where the Amalgum squatted there’s an altar. it contains a massive old book and a beaten-up old silver pocket watch::
Billy Lee: ::Billy, grinning from ear to ear moves towards the tunnel and begins to chant something under his breath::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona walks over to the book and watch, and picks them up.::
GMTown: ::the book is written in an incomprehensible language. The watch has too many hands and dials. It currently reads “11.02, May 23, 2012”.::
Mort: “I’ve used up much of my strength fighting the godlings servants, help me to my feet someone – we must find it”
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona walks to Mort:: “Billy might be able to make sense of this, otherwise I think I have something that might help you.”
GMTown: ::Billy slaps his forehead, pulls out his word copy of the Town Guidebook and turns to a page, then holds it up::
GMTown: http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/gurps-the-town/wikis/chapter-2-2
GMTown: ::Fiona lays her hands on Mort as she chants under her breath, then rises, looking tired while Mort looks far fresher again::
Billy Lee: “Joan says it’ll be easier to go up through the bank. We need to move.”
Mort: ::Giving Fiona his arm “Lead the way Billy” they start walking::
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hearing that it’ll be easier to go through the bank, the Halls turn around and follow after Billy. ::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona notices a button on the watch, and presses it::
Billy Lee: ::Billy follows the ghost of his wife as she urges him to hurry::
GMTown: ::Suddenly, Fiona is on the other side of the room, looking in amazement at the watch in her hands::
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall notices the seeming-teleportation, and turns to her. :: “Time stopping device?”
GMTown: :;A few spots of blood smear Fiona’s hand where the watch lies, yet her palm is uncut::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona stands in amazement, staring at the watch with incredulous thoughts.::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona smiles:: "Apparently so. That’s how the old man did it all. ::Fiona laughs as she says the last few words::
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall nods. :: “Makes sense. Could be useful in the fight ahead, though the book might be even more useful if we could bloody read it.”
Fiona Longham: “This also explains all of the jumps and stops in time. Somone, be it the old man or his progeny, were using this watch for their own ends.”
Mort: “Pause time and read it then”
Fiona Longham: “Guys, in all actuallity it is May 23, 2012”
Fiona Longham: “It saps your energy and drive from you. If someone a bit more fresh could do this, we could get this licked.”
Mort: ::Mort holds out his hand “I’ll read it, hand me the watch as well” the hands are steady and his flame calm::
Billy Lee: “I’ve was dead for fifteen years – ::looks off remembering something:: before They brought me back.”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall nods to Mort. :: “That’s an idea, though watch yourself. You don’t have enough time to do more than glance through it.”
Mort: “Aye ::Mort opens the book and clicks the watch after a moments concentration:: talk in a few friends”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall reaches over and touches the book, reading into its past in an instant. ::
GMTown: ::Time stops for all except Mort. he recognises the language as one used on the Plateau of Leng long before humanity rose, but only has a few moments to flip through the book of spells, history, drawings of mad creatures, eye-watering diagrams and religious rituals honoring hastur the Unspeakable. None the less, near the end he finds weird drawings – part magical diagram, part engineering plan – labelled “Tesla-Merschman Vrill Extractor and Amplifier”::
GMTown: ::then time begins again and both Mort and Hall reel as Mort slams the book closed::
Dr. Orson Hall: “That… device.”
Mort: “Well that was enligtening, they have build tome artifact…yes the Tesla-Merschman Vrill Extractor and Amplifier”
Dr. Orson Hall: “If we destroy it – it may stop this whole thing. And I think it’s mainly located in the power station.”
Mort: “The hells Vrill is or who”
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona lights up:: “The Tesla Powerplant! Of Course!”
Dr. Orson Hall: “Vrill was a type of aether or Star Wars force in a novel from the 1800s.”
Mort: “Ahh I lost track of your human theories of the truth long before that age”
Dr. Orson Hall: “There are some who believe the novel was non-fiction, and the Nazis were attempting to make use of Vril as a superweapon. Quite possibly true, I suppose.”
Mort: “Nazi’s?”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall shakes his head. :: “A political sect that attempted to exterminate an entire race in a rather methodical manner. Caused the second world war, impeting the humans to develop atomic weapons. Quite important in our history.”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall gives the mini-lecture while climbing up to the bank. ::
Fiona Longham: ::Fiona follows closely.::
Billy Lee: ::follows behind Fiona::
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall’s spirit fades back into his body. ::
GMTown: ::the Vault door is open, as are the Bank’s huge wooden front doors. Outside, the street is empty of people, but the swirling clouds overhead are now flashing with multi-colored lightning from some source way down the valley::
Mort: ::Shakes head:: “Not really, unlike the Fay you are one race. Besides, these divisions of humanity you place on youself – I’ve seen a thousand destroyed or absorbed over your history. The strong survive and the weak do not. I believe your Democritus said something of these atoms, you needed something so small to defeat them…humans must have grown weak or strange.”
Fiona Longham: “We need to find a vehicle and then have the most capable driver do the driving while using the Timer.”
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall shakes his head. :: “A single atomic bomb can destroy an entire city, much larger than this town. We’ve grown much, much stronger, not weaker, over time.”
Mort: ::Mort just looks very confused and keeps his lips sealed as the others agree with Dr. Hall::
Fiona Longham: “Guys, I don’t think now is the appropriate time for this arguement.”
GMTown: ::Down the street to your right, Leroy’s old pickup sits out front of the Diner along with a police car::
Dr. Orson Hall: :: Hall heads to the pickup, looking about to see if Leroy is around. ::
Dr. Orson Hall: “Leroy? You make it here with the Coven?”
GMTown: ::Leroy comes running out of the Diner:: You guys are OK? Great! We’re doing some serious triage and first aid here. Fiona, Jim’s back and he has the Old man with him!
Fiona Longham: “Leroy, we need the truck. We need to get to the Tesla Plant immediately.”

GMTown: Sorry, Doc. No such luck
GMTown: ::the plant itself is a pretty, two storey white building made to look like an Italianate mansion, perched above the falls as they begin their plunge to the valley floor. Billy Lee: ::Billy thrusts his hand out towards Leroy before stepping out.:: “Your one hell of a guy Leroy. I’ll do my damnest to bring you through the other side along with your family. Thank you for everything.”

GMTown: ::Ahead, the double doors to the plant have been blown off their hinges and low lie twenty feet away from the gaping doorway. Inside, something writhes amidst hellish light::
Billy Lee: ::Clasps his hands on Leroy’s/Doc’s shoulder::" Leave him in one piece if you can. I’m not sure what he did to deserve to be here but it can’t be half as bad as the shit I’ve done."

Dr. Orson Hall: :: Leroy checks the truck for his shotgun or any other weapon. ::
