Early Evening, Theoxenios 22nd
The small antechamber the characters were in appeared to be an alchemical lab of some sort. The smell of several substances were foul to the extreme. As they attempted to move stealthily through the hall, Eileithyia moved too quickly, and her feet made a loud scraping noise on the grey brick of the floor. Skyler, still in her moon dog form, smelled three sources of a sulphuric odor moving rapidly towards the group.
Before them appeared a broad-shouldered creature with overlong arms that ended in
massively oversized, clawed hands. Its red, meaty looking skin stretched on its grotesquely muscled body. Rushing forward, uttering an unintelligible battle cry, it was followed by similar creatures, seemingly drawing strength from their proximity to one another. They moved forward, filling the five foot wide hallway.
Searching their memories of the Abyss, several characters recognized this as a carnage demon, which lives only to kill in the most painful way possible. As demons, they were resistant to most forms of energy, and silver was one of the few things that could cut through their skin.
Merdor attemted to roll through the group of demons, but ended up coming to an awkward stop in front of the closest demon. Sirius shot through the group, hitting three times with Firestarter. Skyler let out a celestial bay, frightening the furthest demon. Lindal cast a spell allowing the demons to catch the barest glimpse of the Seven Heavens, which dazed the closest one. Eileithyia turned into a dire bear, moving closer to the nearest demon, missing it. Rurik gathered his strength, making a running jump through the narrow hallway, and vaulted over the heads of the surprised demons. He made a surprisingly graceful landing behind the final creature. The first demon was too stunned at his recent vision of Celestia to move, while the second demon moved in an attempt to hit Eileithyia. Eileithyia dealt a massive blow to the creature as it moved closer. The frightened demon fled, his distraction allowing Rurik to hit him. Syurai moved forward, clawing the demon threatening Eileithyia.
Merdor stuck his longsword Anmegil between the ribs of the closest carnage demon, killing him. Sirius felled the middle demon with two hits from Firestarter. While
Skyler sat in wait, Lindal merely made a motion and held up a dragon scale, his skin erupting in hard scales. Eileithyia cornered the demon attempting to flee, clawing it, while Rurik dealt it the final, fatal strike.
Everyone moved up the stairs to find themselves in a great room, domed at the height of fifty feet. Stairs stood across from the entrance, leading to a brazier- lit balcony, situated at twenty feet above the mosaiced ground. At the height of the balcony, standing before a gaping black portal framed with a runic stone circle. Several fat, bowlegged demons stand, their gnarled hands dragging on the ground. They flanked a handsome, charismatic elf with tattooed eyes. The glowing tattoos spoke of the horror of the abyss, and his handsome figure commanded attention. He glared at the group, paying special attention to Lindal and Sirius.
“You! Where is the female?” he demanded. The demons moved closer.
