Modular Vessel

Modular Vessels (more commonly known as MVs or Mods) are mobile space colonies that are composed of a small fleet of inter-connectible vessels. Standardized guidelines governing overall ship configuration and interconnectivity allow “ships” of this type to quickly and inexpensively optimize by only including or updating those component vessels that are required for the mission at hand.

Each such ship is built around a dedicated hyperspace jumpship (which ultimately bears the resulting fleet’s callsign). And includes a variable number of support vessels, each dedicated to one specific task such as long range sensors, maintenance, chemical laboratories, etc.

The design philosophy was pioneered by Frewen Technologies, Inc., which maintains six MVs dedicated to long term surveying and research.
