Act V, Take II: The Delta
During their stay in Montahq, the crew catches word of an expedition bound for the Jade Peaks, which intends to learn more of the Dragons and their relationship with Alchemy. Raziel and Nathan decide to try to get on the team bound for that, but Clive and Loki decide that their sails will be guided by different winds and, with the fondest of farewells, sail north from Montahq.
Raziel and Nathan, however, stay in Badonia. Having been accepted for the position of "guide" for the expedition, they are required to spend their evenings in the local guildhall, as they are now an asset of the Academy. However, one night several days before the expedition, Raziel encounters a Moteca attempting to break into their room. Apparently unprepared for Raziel, the Moteca flees, only to be killed by a stranger from Odara, who was also staying in the guildhall (presumably because he too was hired for the expedition).
After some deliberation with Raziel, Nathan deduces that the Moteca must have been a Gamlonian assassin, sent to murder him because of his royal blood. Though slightly shaken by the incident, Nathan determines to go to Lon to resolve this issue, and to put to rest any other potential problems they may encounter. Raziel, however, informs Nathan that he has no intention to leave the expedition, and bids his friend a fond farewell. Nathan payed his resignation fee the following morning, and got aboard the next ship to Aurora.
