The birthplace of the Akkadians and deathplace of Akkad, Triari is the heart of the Akkadian Empire. Many say that the world's greatest warriors are Triarii, and that only the hardest and bravest could ever hope to survive its harsh lands.

Location & Geography

Nestled deep in the heart of the Mohenjo Daro Valley, Triari is well-known for being a very harsh environment. It is just east of Sidon in the Spine mountains, and beyond that lies Lon. To the northwest is Badonia, and Xibalba to the northeast, beyond Qiriaroh.

The valley is not known for having pleasant weather, and it is rare that any non-Triari will ever choose to travel through it, especially during the summer or winter months. Summers are unearthly hot and arid, and winters are brutally cold and windy. The valley rarely gets any kind of rain or snow, though when it does, the Triarii agree unanimously that it is cause for celebration.

Almost completely devoid of wildlife, Triari is home to only the hardiest of creatures. The only mammals to exist there are small polecats and the bactrian camel, which the Triarii often employ as a beast of burden. Various small lizards and birds also make their home here, but many speculate that these do not actually belong, and are the product of human immigration.

History

Seat of the Akkadian Empire, Triari is belived to be where Akkad initially arrived when he began spreading the word of Akkadianism. The first Akkadians were born here, and the Triarii are more than determined to make sure that the last one will be born here as well. Having been the only Akkadians to have been around at the beginning of the Thousand Years War, the Triarii are incredibly proud of their combat ability, and never hesitate to make those around them aware.

Near the end of the war, one of the tribes living in the valley (known as the Hyksos) announced that they no longer wished to be affiliated with the Akkadian Empire, and that they would be returning to their old religion. Though their secession was initially met with hostility, they were eventually granted passage to Xibalba, where they were to make their new home. Relations with the Triarii remained sour, however, and the past few centuries have seen aggrivated conflict between the two, having only recently escalated to full-scale ground war.

When the Empire dispersed following the war, the people living the valley simply claimed it as their own, and named it Triari. Since their borders go so far north, Triari is easily the largest Akkadian state, possessing almost as much land as the other three states combined. Borders have yet to be shifted since then.

Internal & Foreign Relations

Being the closest Akkadian territory geographically to Aurora, Triari is also their closest ally. Constant, strained relations with the Sids has had a surprisingly minimal effect on this situation, and indeed the two seem to remain close allies with Safeport despite their own abrasive relationship.

Tensions with the Hyksos also remain. Due to the numerous and continued assaults on Badonia, the Triarii are no longer willing to abide by the Hyksos, and the past few years have seen a massive increase in skirmishes and violent assaults on Xibalba. This has accordingly increased Akkadian standing with the Badonians, Triari being seconded in Badonian favor only by Aurora.

The other Akkadian territories view the Triarii with a mixture of emotions. While globally accepted as the greatest warriors alive, Triarii are also historically incredibly proud and arrogant people, and treat the other Akkadians with a degree of grudging acceptance; particularlty the converts of Thule.
