Imperiums

The lands in the Southern Empire hold a fairly unique position within the structure of the Avitian Empire. These lands make up 1/10th the total land area of the empire and 1/11th of the total population. The land in this temperate region is generally plains or low hills and, for the most part, fairly good farmland. Due to the Path of Gods Mountain chain to the north and east, the moist water that flows off the ocean produces a fair amount of rain, and fog is a more common phenomenon than in most other lands within the empire.

The Issian Peninsula is also a fairly unique land mass in that a majority of the peninsula is surrounded by treacherous sandbars, reefs, and rock formations that lie just beneath the surface of the ocean. This has made travel by boat a very dangerous endeavor. Luckily the majority of these dangers are located between 15 to 20 miles away from landfall. The waters between the coast and this encircling area of reefs are some of the best fishing waters known in the empire. This has allowed a thriving sea based culture to arise.

The combination of the dangerous waters and the size of the Path of Gods Mountain chain has made contact between those living on the Issian Peninsula and outsiders a very minimal experience. Indeed it is these very land formations that kept the peninsula from becoming a part of the Avitian Empire for many hundreds of years.

If these lands were to be said to have a capitol, that capital would undoubtedly be the city of Redgrove, located in the south-western portion of the peninsula.
