Imperiums

A once powerful Wyld stronghold, this city has all but been laid to waste due to plague and the theft of its holy stone.

Magh Tuireadh was the site of two major battles between the armies of Lugh, and the Fomorians. Its landscape has been noticeably changed due to these conflicts. An example is the Risen Causeway which lies to the north of the city. In what was once a large lake there remains thousands of hexagonal stone pillars which jut up from the ground very close to each other. Lugh created these pillars in order to form a bridge across the ancient lake in order to flank an attacking Fomorian army. Though the lake is now gone, the stone still stand as a testament to the powers of Lugh.

Other signs can sometimes be found of these conflicts as well. Occasionally a bone from a long dead combatant can be found in the soil; weapons and armor rusted far beyond use are also sometimes uncovered. Some of the rocky areas even show signs of weapons haven been struck against them or chip marks on boulders where sling stones were gathered.

Today there are very few who reside here. The ancient walls of the city have been worn away to their foundations. Where once tens of thousands of people lived, these numbers dwindled to only several thousand as people migrated to other lands. Of these few thousand, many died in a recent plague that occurred after the cities holy stone was stolen by a tribe from the south. For almost a year the city was abandoned by its tribe, leaving the area to change hands of ownership several times. Recently the tribe of Magh Tuireadh have returned to try to make their ancestral land a home again.
