Did I miss where the rules are posted? I want to flesh out my concept, but I need to know what’s possible before I can finish. I’m going to be trapped in a hotel deep in the wilds of Illinois for the next few days, so I have plenty of time to do this. = P

OK, so the plan is to game again next Sunday (the 18th), I’ve invited a few new people – Bradley and Richard, and I’m hopeful that Joe and maybe Colin can make it as well. I’m pretty sure that Doug and John will not make it – still waiting to hear from Jason.

Brad, Richard, Joe, Colin – please post up your characters ASAP, call or come by or post if you need help with the rules system/game concept.

John, I made a few tweaks to make the numbers math out right. You had six points of Techniques, and 4.5 ranks of additional forte, rather than 3. I’m assuming you intended to combine Past/Motivation with inventor, so I tweaked that. Also made Playboy your Specialty instead of Boxing, so that you could afford the Technique for it. Finally, I had to drop Hunter to get back down to an even 3 additional Fortes (doubling up on Inventor to give you a +4 before the additional fortes).

If this makes no sense at all, we can talk about it before the game.

If you get what I did, but don’t like where I moved things, that’s cool – feel free to tweak it.

LOVE the character!

Okay, Jonathan – I’ve uploaded my character. Let me know if you have any major issue with it. Also, I’ve tried for the last hour to upload my character picture into the proper area to have it show up in the list, but something is glitchy tonight for some reason. I’ve uploaded the pic to the campaign images, if you have a chance, can you try to upload it to my char page?

If you have questions, text me tomorrow. See you at 5!

Don’t hesitate to make your descriptors very identity oriented. For instance, the forte “Biker Dude” is totally legitimate and casts a very broad shadow, everything from riding a motorbike to drinking beer to fighting. If you wanted to build a Biker Dude, then, you don’t have to spend Fortes on Motorcycling, Intimidation, and Fighting – although you CAN if you like.

Just a thought, guys – one of you needs to be able to pilot the Airship. :P
Also, it’d be good if one of you knows a bit about mechanical stuff. That’d be Pecker if Doug keeps him.

Your call, Doug. If Pecker seems funt to you, we’ll run with it.

Oh. I thought this was a military operation. So TRIAS is like some sort’ve think tank? Sounded like it was a military research project and we were the test pilots. Ok, no biggy, we can scrap my character. I’m out’ve time here at work, so I’ll think on it and write up someone new on Sunday.

Also, Doug, I’d like you to explain how you envision the Wildcard technique working?

Well, I was hoping for PCs to be more erudite and formally trained. However, Pecker could be a lot of fun. If you’re comfortable being the genius who never studied and who doesn’t quite fit in with the scene, then I’m ok with it.

Let’s have the other two characters actually have masters degrees from an Ivy League school, tho? Sorry if I hadn’t made that clear enough.

It’s really not an issue as far as the storyline goes – just the launching and returning point. If we make this more than a one-shot, I plan on TRIAS (which is a post-graduate level program) being the pool from which all characters come.

Got a character with a picture up. Gimme my style dice bitches.

Sorry boys, I took the zany character. So somebody else has to be the responsible one.

Jonathan, lemme know if you’ve got any issues or reccomendations.

Sorry ‘bout the chick in my character photo. I didn’t feel like putting in the time to edit her out. There’s other good character pics from the same artist on DivantArt: http://werdandi.deviantart.com/gallery/9169298

Field of Expertise is specifically an area of science. It could be anything from Aerodynamics to Electrical Engineering. It’s the BRAIN aspect behind why the TRIAS accepted your character.

Specialty is anything that you want to be your character’s signiture forte. It could be fisticuffs, explosives, rowing, auto mechanics, or baking. It’s the thing that your character falls back on as his primary resource to overcome adversity, or if you prefer, it’s his niche on the team".

Clearer?

I don’t think I understand what the difference would be between my character’s Speciality and his Field of Expertise. Please elaborate.

Welcome guys!

First of, thanks to my buddy Edward, for hosting this game on his Ascendant account, and also for the help with developing an alternate history timeline to help give me a framework to work with.

Edward and I played a really fun game called Zeppelin Age at GenCon, and I’ve been in a sort of airship/pirates mentality since. I thought this would be a fun way to play some of that out.

If we decide that we like the idea, I can keep an episode ready for the next time we don’t have enough players to play DnD but still want to roleplay. I’m thinking a minimum of 3 players is what we need.

I’ve posted some notes in the Wiki regarding game concept and character generation. Please feel free to ask any clarifying questions you may have. I’ll start a page in the forums for all of that goodness.
