At the start of his reign His Eternal Imperial Majesty Alain Hyms’l wed Her Highness, Duchess Victoria1 of Hyteron and she became the first Empress of the Kileana Empire. The happy union lasted less than a year unfortunately, when elven assassins murdered the Empress in cold blood on her twenty second birthday. In celebration the emperor had ordered this city built; in memoriam a grand mausoleum was ordered at the place where the palace had originally been intended, and specifications for the palace proper were altered to increase security measures. After 6 years, the construction was well underway, with the principal structure (the mausoleum) all but finished, and the emperor’s campaign of vengeance against the elves in full swing. For over a hundred years craftsmen and artisans labored to perfect the regal city, and though it is but a town in size, Victoria is the first Imperial Monument for peace, as exemplified, codified, and enforced by the Pax Ilana (Treaty of Kileana), which was established at the groundbreaking of the new Queens Palace.
1 As was the custom for Hyteric nobility, Victoria was a titular name; the duchess’ real name, Cilaeana Tyrneatlithar (roughly: “Luminous Daughter of Victory”) is yet preserved in immortality; the finest calligraphy inscribed in the purest marble of her grand sepulchre, by the most talented gnomish gravers.
