The Stranger – Samuel Adams Jackson

Jose Garrido contacts  fellow gang member Pablo de la Vega to ask for help getting to the man who had kicked him and is now in police custody. Bella is proud of her new Stetson and returns home to rest after helping to fight against the elephantine Dream Eater.

 
In his sanctum sanctorum, Errol Sternglass is freaked out because he believes he recognizes a monster from the past. The petrolmancer conducts a divination and has a vision of an ancient vampire feeding on dinosaurs.

Sam A. Jackson, a.k.a. “The Stranger,” roams the night astride his shadowy steed, as Agent Michael James is stuck doing paperwork for the Special Investigations Group. Orion Warthorn III reviews legislation while plotting to continue his efforts to protect Gaia.
 
The next morning, Dani realizes that she hasn’t seen friend and chronic basket case Sally Duquesne in a few days. The young artist reluctantly texts Jose, who teases her about recent gaps in her memory. He agrees to give her a ride in his beat-up Nissan.

 
At the home of Sebastian Powell, Bella receives a call from her pal April, who is worried about Bonnie, a mutual acquaintance. The foo dog says she’ll join the hunt for Bonnie.
 
Jose knows of some moonshiners who might know about Sally, so he picks up a few pizzas and drives about an hour out of Dallas. On the way, Dani receives a text from fellow artist Raisa that Laura, a girl in their coven, has also gone missing.

 
Errol goes to the estate of J.D. Baines and asks the oil magnate for anything in his occult collection that would help against the ancient Undead. Baines mentions a belt buckle and bear hide connected to the late private investigator Harry Dresden. Baines grants Errol permission to borrow items, but on the condition that he take Mrs. Bingham Baines to visit his warehouse.
 
At an isolated Farmhouse , Jose introduces Dani to two large men — Grok and Grog [Jason/Non-Player Character]. They are covered in green fur and talk to owl Grommet [Sara/N.P.C.] as if it’s a person. Jose offers the pizzas for cooperation. Dani sketches portraits of Sally and Laura, which Grog passes to Grok.
 
Grok goes behind some stills and returns saying, “Checked out back, and those girls ain’t there.” Dani worries that the hillbillies might be holding other women against their will, but Jose hustles her away.
 
On the way to J.D. Baines’ warehouse of esoterica, Errol fends off the affections of the perpetually drunk Mrs. Baines. Bella eventually gets in touch with Dani, and they agree to meet at Dr. Sanjay Chatterjee’s “House of Samples,” a den of ill repute where Sally and the others may have gone.
 
Jose, Dani, and Bella are surprised to find Errol lurking at the strip mall, but he says that he’s stalking a prehistoric monster. Dani is careful not to eat or drink and barely inhales while at Dr. Sanjay’s den of iniquity. Jose and Bella play it cool, while Errol wonders how he ended up sampling hookahs.
 
The cheerful psychic vampire tells his visitors that he hasn’t seen Sally, Bonnie, or Laura, but fellow student Asa may have seen them at “The Bronze,” a nightclub. Dani and company politely but hastily exit the House of Samples.
 
Pablo calls Jose, a fellow member of the Abrigatos crime family, and learns that Ara Sainai is a rogue Brazilian member of Los Diablos Muertes, a rival organization. Apparently, more people have gone missing from both gangs.

 
Bella gives Errol a hairbrush of Bonnie’s so that he can cast a locator spell. The wizard places the plastic brush on the hood of his Cadillac, and it turns like a compass, leading the group to an airport. Errol follows the spell to a locked self-storage unit.
 
Summoning supernatural strength, Errol breaks down a side wall. Unfortunately, that triggers a flame ward, and there’s an explosion! Bella shields Dani, and Jose spots someone lurking and chases the possible perpetrator.
 
Bella and Dani attend to Bonnie and Laura, who are bound and burned. Errol runs after Jose and the man, who shoots green flame at them. Bella returns to canine form and tackles Ara, biting at his throat. The cultist says that he was preparing the sacrifice to Mammon, but he doesn’t know Sally.

Errol calls Michael to arrest Ara, while Dani goes with her friends to the hospital. Jose wonders how the missing people might be connected to Sheriff Powell’s death and the strange creatures….
