Before the Scourge, the empire called Orbis Tertius ruled the lands surrounding Uqbar City. Most of its citizens merely called it “The Empire.” The Empire stretched far to the south and west, bounded on those sides by the ocean. In the east the border was fluid as the legions waged constant war against mounted barbarians. The north was fertile and peaceful, with neighbors of the same disposition, and the farmers tilled plains and rolling hills watered by mountain streams.
The Empire maintained its borders for many centuries. Magic was well established and powerful, perhaps too powerful, as the magic of the world reached such a high level that Horrors crossed over from their realms in Astral Space. The eastern barbarians simultaneously washed over the empire. The imperial army was overwhelmed and Orbis Tertius collapsed into anarchy. Soon the world was consumed by the Scourge.
The citizens of Uqbar City sought shelter from the Horrors. They built Kaer Uqbar and have lived underground for 409 years.
The campaign begins inside Kaer Uqbar. The kaer leaders have decided the Scourge may be over, and the characters will be among the first explorers sent outside.
This began as an EarthDawn campaign which is now being converted to Pathfinder. It will still retain an EarthDawn flavor that includes Horrors and Horror constructs, the EarthDawn Passions, and magic items that increase in power as their secrets are uncovered.

August 3 – Unfortunately, the gaming group has broken up due to real life demands. I will put this campaign on hiatus in the hope we might find a way to begin again in the future.
