The rescue attempt on Calden is a rousing success. Well except for the bodies… The group successfully took out the sentries at the Deneith enclave backdoor, and disabled the arcane wards. Calden and Brion were waiting on the other side of the door. The Sentinel Marshal leader got Calden out of the stockade on pretext of seeing Lord Sadran, and they quickly headed for the backdoor. As the reunited group left the scene, though, a patrol of blademarks showed up. Another fight ensued, and the heroes broke free and fled into the night of Sharn. Brion said he was leaving that night for Karrnath, and he recommended that Calden lie low.
After holing up for the night in a Citadel safehouse arranged for by Ashe, the next destination was Khyber’s Gate to find the Son of Khyber. Jurgen Rivnor led them to the place where he was to meet the ‘Shepherd’- the shanty of a Khyber cult soothsayer goblin named Nikraa. Though the group attempted to stay to the shadows while Jurgen made the connection, the goblin woman called them out of hiding, apparently already aware that the group was coming. She proved no threat, though, simply wanting to test the heroes with riddles. It seemed that she was fine with them finding the Shepherd. The test of cunning was passed by the adventurers, and they now have been directed by the woman to their next test: one of strength. She has pointed to the empty warehouse across the street…

Calden intent on bringing Sorghan and his followers back to the Deneith enclave, the group set off down the street. It was a quick trip, though, for an ambush was laid for them by Taus’ ex-compatriots from the Boromar Clan. The half-elf woman Lindra had tracked Taus and Jurgen down, and was intent on killing them both in order to increase her own standing in the criminal organization. Apparently, walking away from the Boromar Clan is not an option. After the vicious fisticuffs, the ambushers lay about the street in their own blood, and Lindra knocked out cold. Taus had spared her life. But Ashe had his own plans for the half-elf, and requested a little privacy to interrogate her. It seems that Ashe’s past has made a connection with the Boromar Clan in the person of Bastille, and he wanted information. Lindra had none to give, but offered to find intel for Ashe in return for some Citadel favors.
The fight over, the group split up, with most heading to the Deneith enclave. Calden took Sorghan in by himself, willing to face the music alone if things went poorly. And poorly they went. Lord Sadran, the enclave minister, heard Sorghan’s accusation of treachery and attempted murder against Calden before the other leaders of the household, including Brion. Deeper divisions seemed to be at work in the situation, and Lord Sadran quickly sided with Sorghan against Calden and Brion. Calden was apprehended. Later, Brion contacted the rest of the group and informed them that Calden had been sentenced to death, an outlandish punishment for his alleged crime. Brion was to be removed as head of the Sentinel Marshals in Sharn and return to Karrnath. But not before Brion enlisted the heroes to break Calden out of the enclave…

Keira speaks with Jurgen
The group finally gathered again after a few days rest, and Calden and Ashe realized that they had been given different sides of the same job. Ashe was to take Jurgen Rivnor into Citadel custody, and Calden was to make sure he got back to House Deneith once Ashe was done. It seems the dwarf could be instrumental to finding out the location of the enigmatic new leader of House Tarkanan: the Son of Khyber. The rest agreed to help out in the task—in Cur’s case solely to relieve boredom and hemorrhoids.
The group collected their prisoner and were directed by the House guards to the docks district of Cliffside, where they were told Sorghan and Brion d’Deneith wanted to meet them. Upon arrival, only Sorghan and a few friends were there, and the purpose of the meeting became evident. Sorghan wanted to torture and kill Jurgen. Ashe objected, but finally consented to letting the Sentinel Marshal interrogate the dwarf, at Calden’s behest. But Keira stepped forward to protect Jurgen from such treatment, spurring Sorghan to attack. After a furious fight in the alley in Cliffside, the heroes prevailed and spared the lives of the Deneith members. Calden is now intent upon bringing them back to the enclave and revealing their actions. But Ashe wonders if it may become the impetus for a House coup…

Session 23 Chat Log 2
Demise and her Emerald Claw plots have been thwarted, and all that remains now is to decide upon the fate of the Ashen Crown. Just as the heroes begin cleaning up the mess in Ashurta’s tomb, two newcomers enter the room: the hobgoblin priest of the Sovereign Host Olaakki, and the Kech Volaar goblin Govaan, who apparently survived Tikulti’s treachery. Olaakki congratulates the heroes and prompts them to decide on the Crown. With the help of Keira and Nissa, Gydd performs the Rite of Arkantaash, the ritual to conjoin the fragments of the Ashen Crown. Once complete, the Crown is finally whole in Keira’s hands. And with the group’s decision to give it to Govaan and the Kech Volaar, the Chosen of the Gray Mist complete their mission. Breland will have its wish to a more peaceful neighbor in the future.
After returning to Captain Kalaes and receiving a reward, the heroes each spent a few days of rest and relaxation. But the break proved to be full of more intrigue as they prepare to turn their attention towards Jurgen Rivnor and the Son of Khyber. Each of them receive news or are met with challenges that will prove to shape the coming days, if not their lives. Soon they will come together to discuss the meaning of these portents, and decide on a course of action.

Ashe speaks with Chief
The quest for the Ashen Crown has come to a head, and the forces behind the plot to foil the Kech Volaar and steal the Crown have been faced and defeated.
The adventurers quickly moved on from the entrance to Ashurta’s tomb, and came face to face with the traitor Tikulti. The changeling and his lackeys were defeated after a vicious fight. During the battle, Tikulti taunted the heroes, including having the audacity to take the form of Caelin—one of their fallen comrades.
The search for the Crown culminated in Ashurta’s tomb where Demise was preparing her ritual to rejoin the fragments of the Ashen Crown. Luckily, Gydd Nephret was there as well, alive. All that was left was to defeat the necromancer—no small feat. The heroes were barely a match for the elven woman, who displayed a powerful command of the forces of death. But in the end, Demise fell, and Gydd was rescued.
Now it remains to be seen the fate of the Ashen Crown…
Session 21 Chat Log
After the bar fight, the Chosen of the Gray Mist had quite a mess to clean up. On many levels. The hooligans needed to be dealt with, decisions needed to be made about their captive Jurgen, a newcomer has arrived- Ashe, and sense needed to be made out of Tikulti’s betrayal. And to make matters more confusing, a patrol of Tharashk guards entered the bar wanting to get to the bottom of who killed a half-orc member of the House in the bar. Their next destination was clear: Sharn. But the path was anything but clear.
After Ashe, Calden, and Taus interrogated Jurgen, the group convinced the Tharashk Captain to let them go after allowing him to take Sophia into custody for killing the half-orc. They made their way back to the Orien enclave and the airship Yeraa had contracted. There the group heard more rumors corroborating Tikulti’s betrayal. They also found a fast way back to Sharn: the teleportation circle inside the enclave. They shelled out the gold for the ritual and were quickly back in the City of Towers.
In Sharn, each took care of some personal business, including depositing Jurgen with House Deneith. Intrigue promises to shroud that little deal, as multiple heroes appear to have plans for the dragonmarked dwarf (Oh Noes!!!). Taus and Ashe’s acrimony also threatens to undermine the party’s unity. Eventually, though, they met back together to deal with the matter at hand: it seems that Tikulti has implicated them in the theft of the Ashen Crown fragments, and they have been summoned to the King’s Citadel to speak with Captain Saj Kalaes. Only Ashe was absent as they spoke with the Captain. Kalaes was incredulous to hear that Tikulti was the real traitor, but he was eventually convinced after using a priest to detect any lies (not to mention Ashe’s sudden arrival in the room and attempt to pull rank). Kalaes encouraged capture of both the Crown and Tikulti, and let the group go. They quickly set in motion their plan to recover the Crown, heading down to the Cogs weapons in hand. They again entered Ashurta’s tomb deep under the city where they faced Demise’s assistant, Jaenus- a skullborn elf. He was joined by Claw warriors and undead kruthiks—apparently the very kruthiks the heroes destroyed weeks ago. Battle ensued, and the intruders prevailed, hoping to find Tikulti, the Ashen Crown, and the mastermind of this whole plot—the necromancer Demise.

Taus talks with former associates
Tikulti is a traitor!
After defeating Demise and her gnoll mercenaries, our heroes realized that it wasn’t Demise at all, but a doppelganger posing as the elf woman. And even worse, the filching wraiths that were with them filched Zaarani’s Solitaire off of Keira and apparently passed it off to a mysterious human in the crowd at the goblin market. Things became all too clear moments later as Yeraa and the Kech Volaar goblins emerged from their dig site, not as you last saw them, but as undead monsters seeking to destroy the group. After slaying them, the adventurers found that their fragments were gone as well. And Tikulti was no where to be seen. Putting two and two together, the painful truth emerged. Tikulti has betrayed the group, the Kech Volaar, and apparently Breland. It seems the changeling is a double agent for Demise and the Emerald Claw and killed the goblins after they found the final fragment of the Ashen Crown. Then he used a ritual to raise them as undead and sicked them on the group. He must have been the mysterious human who the wraith gave Zaarani’s Solitaire to. It was all confirmed moments later as Tikulti came through on the sending stone, challenging the group to follow him back to Sharn, implying that they could find him and Demise in the same place the group found Ashurta’s Blade.
But first, another job required doing. The adventurers tracked down Jurgen to a dingy bar called the Mermaid’s Tits. But just before they could accost the wanted dwarf, a group of ruffians started a conversation with the heroes, apparently ready to extort some money off of them. The newcomer, Sophia, would have none of it and blasted the leader. A fight ensued, and a mysterious man joined the fight—a shifter by the name of Ashe. It remains to be seen his stake in this fight. The brawl ended quickly, and luckily Jurgen didn’t escape. Now it’s time to sort out the mess…

With the task in Six Kings completed, the Chosen of the Gray Mist were ready for a new stage in their quest to assist the Kech Volaar. But not before saying goodbye to yet another comrade. After flying to Graywall, Sari left the group in the middle of the night, including a touching farewell to Calden. The rest understood, but were sad. Luckily, though, their ranks were bolstered by two new additions. A gnome faculty member from Morgrave University by the name of Nissa Carolden had tracked the group down. She was a personal friend to Gydd Nephret, and wanted to offer her assistance in finding her. The only clues she had were that the Order of the Emerald Claw were involved in her disappearance, and that our heroes had been one of the last to see her. The second addition to the group was a human woman by the name of Sophia. The party met her while in the plaza called the Roar in Graywall’s Calabas district. They were there to assist the Kech Volaar goblins in excavating to the ruins below the city. Sophia apparently was in search of adventure, and latched onto the group enthusiastically. She was a great help, as was Nissa, in their task of hiding the activities of the digging goblins. Taus rented a warehouse in the plaza to cover the expedition, while the group put on various shows or ruses outside to distract the passing crowds. It was a success, as word came from Tikulti that the fifth fragment of the Ashen Crown was found by the goblins. They were headed for the surface. But not before a surprise was sprung on the heroes. Demise had appeared at last, along with a few lackeys, ready to attack. A showdown is just about to begin…

The aberrant denizens of Six Kings have met their match in the Chosen. The foulspawn who nearly ended their adventures were dealt with handily, as well as a band of a lost goblin tribe called the Na’ruktuu. Eventually, though, their delving brought them to their destination: the Moon Pool and those in possession of Zaraani’s Solitaire. As expected, those owners were more foulspawn—a group that had defied the laws of nature and persisted in undeath through the millennia. More than dolgaunts and dolgrims had cheated death, though, as became evident when an unliving beholder rose from the Moon Pool to challenge the intruders. All hope seemed lost until the Kech Volaar appeared from the darkness and attacked the beholder with all of the ferocity of Dhakaan. They quickly swarmed the horrible creature and brought it down, as the adventurers finished off the other foulspawn and retrieved the Solitaire for the Kech Volaar’s mission to assemble the Ashen Crown.
Session 17 Chat Log
Our adventurers took an unexpected and sad trip back millennia, somehow transported through the fabric of time to the days of the Dhakaani Empire and their fight against the daelkyr of Xoriat. They were delivered right into the midst of a battle between the goblins and the foulspawn, which were streaming through a breach between the planes. There they met a Gatekeeper druid by the name of Kruul’ort, who was tasked by the goblins with the burden of closing the planar breach. The orc druid recruited the heroes, who he took for elves, to aid him in drawing near to the portal and assisting in the ritual. Unfortunately, Sari resisted all along the way, apparently under the influence of the Coat of Eyes and the daelkyr power behind the artifact. Kruul’ort succeeded in performing the primal ritual and sealing the breach before a daelkyr could emerge, but they all returned to their own time knowing the sad truth that the battle was still lost to Zaraani and the goblin army defending Six Kings.
More sadness awaited in the present, though. Caelin was nowhere to be found upon arrival, and Sari found her brother entombed with the goblins in the stalagmites, apparently as retribution from Belashyrra, the Lord of Eyes, for her failure to stop the Gatekeeper from sealing the breach. She was beside herself with grief and rage. The group continued on, though, and battled more foulspawn and ghostly goblins. They met their match in a dark cave, where a group of foulspawn swarmed over them. The dolgrims almost killed Calden, and drove the party back to find safety. Will they brave the depths of Six Kings again?
