Akvak

The Reaper, The Black Sun

Akvak is the lawful-evil god of death. His is the domain of all evil intent, corruption, decay, and the death of all living things. His domains are Evil, Darkness, Death, and Decay. His favorite weapon is the scythe. Akvak is possessed of a sinister and cold intelligence. He most often appears in the form of a skeletal being clothed in a deep, black robe. Akvak takes care that he is thought of often- he is known to materialize beside open graves, scythe in hand, to gaze upon the gathered mourners for a few silent seconds before disappearing, to remind them of the inevitability of death. He never sleeps or rests, but instead commands his faithful to spread fear of his name throughout the planes.

Worshipers

The clergy of Akvak, commonly known as Deathpriests, are highly feared and respected. They garb themselves in rich black robes and silver masks shaped into the likeness of a skull. Akvak’s faithful ensure that the power of death is respected, and that the plans of the church of almighty Akvak are never thwarted. It is common knowledge that it is death to touch a priest of Akvak. Deathpriests are known for their perfect patience and discipline. They are never known to lie, and make good on all of their promises with cold efficiency.

Despite the unmistakably evil nature of Akvak’s church, it is not uncommon to see a place of worship dedicated to him in most major cities. To disallow Akvak’s worship is to invite doom and destruction, so his temple’s are most often (begrudgingly) allowed.

Relationships

Akvak is the mortal enemy of all other powers in Idos and beyond. His ultimate aim is the utter destruction of all reality, and his beliefs do not often allow him to make allies. Akvak does, however, have many great powers under his command. Azel must do the bidding of Akvak, although he hates the thought of working underneath any other power. The Tarrasque, while not divine, is also believed to be the current mortal servant of Akvak, and awakens once an eon to obliterate all of Idos.
