Le Ballet de l'Acier

The Plateau of a Thousand Cows looks down on the provinces of Marche and Limousin, sloping gently from south to north. The windswept granite plateau includes grassy prairies, peat bogs, and small, dense forests of fir, pine, beech, and birch. The plateau is the source of many rivers, including the Vienne and the Creuse. Limousin cattle and sheep dot the landscape in all directions.
