Dhedluk is a small town at the foot of of the mountain Stormking, in the Stormhorns mountain chain. Founded in 1342 DR by the Purple Dragon Knight Tharion Moonblade, it is now home to approximately 900 people. Now ruled by Tharion’s son Thiombar, this small community is facing increasing pressure as its only source of water, the White River, has mysteriously dried up. Rumor is swirling around the town that Thiombar let this tragedy occur, and many citizens are now casting a scornful eye on their lord.
As a reward for his service to the kingdom of Cormyr, Sir Tharion Moonblade of the Purple Dragons was granted a large tract of land with which to found the settlement of Dhedluk. The fertile soil yielded by the White River coupled with Dhedluk’s proximity to trade routes caused its population to swell in the first ten years, turning the sleepy farming town into a bustling center of trade. But it was not to be. In 1359 DR, Dhedluk was invaded by an army of undead led by a infernal warrior known as the Dark Lord, who demanded that Tharion hand over his city else it be razed. Tharion refused, not willing to hand over the fate of his people to a madman. In the ensuing battle, Tharion was killed, but not before he defeated the Dark Lord in hand-to-hand combat. Tharion’s son Thiombar became lord of the city, but it was a mere shadow of its former self, barely holding itself together after the invasion. Today, Dhedluk is again growing, though it is widely believed that it well never reclaim its lost glory.
