Mage Tour thru Time, Awakenings in a Cold World

The Librum is violated

January 23, 2013 02:57

Our party begins at the Lost Tower as they realize their witnessing of the end of Atlantis is a false vision. They are greeted by Farijahd and a mysterious boy-mage. Farijahd explains that their vision and journey to the Tower shows a second attempt by Limnoch the Exarch to obtain the Supernal Keys for foul purposes. Farijahd says that Master Telfas of the Mysterium and Raji the Brooding, head of the Empyrean Wardens must be told and a course of action decided upon.

The party travels to the Ars Draconis and seeks audience with Telfas. It is here the the mysterious mage, now revealed to be the Amnesia-riddled Kryxsus, begins to gather back some memories of his past.

Telfas says that Limnoch was taught my Master Avandar, who seems to also be the one who eradicated the memory of Kryxsus. More disturbingly he senses the hand of the so-called “Dragon” Thevetat and his travelling companion Eibon in these matters. It is decided that Telfas will head to Atlantis to confront Master Atlan and Limnoch, and that the party will investigate both Thevetat’s past and this Master Avandar.

In their rooms, Telfas sends word that a secret traveller has come to the Ars Draconis seeking the party. They head to the Skyport to investigate and quickly find out that a lone female warrior arrived seeking them. Sen-Jan and Kryxsus investigate the ship while Ricord seeks the female herself.

Aboard the ship, Kryxsus runs in terror as a rage spirit is revealed with his mage sight. Sen-Jan feels with his psychic senses all he can, and comes a cross a strange silver orb. He touches it briefly revealing a spiked hovering ball of death. He cracks its outer shell with his celestial fires only to see a reptiles eye that quickly begins transforming his very flesh with dragon runes. He is able to best the undead eye and free himself of its curse.

Meanwhile Ricord comes face to face with the deadly Miko, a Dragons Disciple from Khitai as she desecrates books relating to Thevetat’s past in Lumeria. A confrontation ensues and Ricord fears the worst, until the destruction of her Dragons Eye weakens her, exposing her to Ricord’s foulest trick, The Geis.

He interogates her and turns her over to the Mysterium where the punishment for book desecration is death.

Our party now stands at a crossroads; investigate Master Avandar and reclaim Kryxsus’ past, or seek the legend of Thevetat before his assassins can succeed in their death…

From Atlantis to Babylon, and the catastrophe of the Orb

June 21, 2012 04:56

Our party starts by deciding to visit the heads of the orders they have missed, and makes its way to the Gates of the Guardians to meet Master Galvick. Galvick, an Obrimos of much power, is quick to get our 2 heroes twisted with the powerful entity known as Thevetat in order to understand the darkness in the world. He also shows them the chamber of the Veil as well. They complete some training, and Richord allows the beautiful Shimiana to probe him for every secret he can spill on the Empyrean Wardens.

Next it is off to the Silver Ladder Consortium to speak with Lord Zax-Shabbat. Our 2 take an instant liking to his swagger and strong demeanor. Sen-Jan continues training, while Richord indulges in Mana-Surging for the first time in his life.

From there they visit the Lost Tower. Just getting to the tower they must leave the sky ship by sail skiff and navigate the Windy Cliffs and Chaos Maelstrom. Combining their magics, the two make it past the first wave, only to be blasted by a bolt of unmaking. The skiff disappears and the 2 go hurling down several thousand feet, plummeting rapidly to their deaths. In the last moment, Sen-Jan manifests a phantasm Skiff and they sail back up to the precipice, only to face the powerful Tower Guardian Bogmaut. In a fell swoop of Chaos Bolts and Celestial Fire, Bogmaut is bested.

Within the tower, they meet Farijahd, the dark and elusive keeper. He gives them an item, the Supernal Keys and asks them to deliver it to Limnoch the All-Seeing. They also begin their visions to be finished on Atlantis.

They depart to the Palace of Limnoch, and give this over-eager Luminary his Supernal Key, then they head to the Silver Tower to finish their visions. The Silver Keepers are confused as to what they mean, and at this point all hell breaks loose. The Luminaries attack master Atlan and the Oracles. They destroy the Consillium of Meru, slaughter they mages, and travel to the Silver Tower to destroy the Supernal Ladder.

They see Kranor attack Acanthus, and our heroes run to check on her. In a last ditch effort of preservation, she traps our heroes in a Masoleum and grants them Immortality. Time settles for them. They lose track of movement and flow.

When they awaken, two dusty mages, Nabu and Enertu stand poised, ready to steal their items. They are quickly identified as the Lost Wanderers. The world has changed, they step outside, Sen-Jan encounters Paradox for the first time, they see Babylon in the distance. Much has changed, and they need time to strategize. Retreating to the Palace of Enertu, they must plot their next move…

The Onslaught of Janis the Dark

June 07, 2012 05:30

Our party begins by taking the Armor of the Void to the Empyrean Citadel. Upon arrival, the Empyreus Maximus, Raji the Brooding, wants to finish the training for our duo. Foregoing all enchanted items, clothing, and comforts, they embark on 4 weeks of honing their skills. From martial and athletic skills, to skills of interogation and investigation, our duo is forged in the fires of the Empyrean Wardens. At the end, they master the posture of strength, judgement, perseverance, and justice. They then return to Telfas and the Mysterium to investigate the whereabouts of Janis, the murder of Umtar the Keeper. With wise actions, they find that Janis stole the Arconis skyship from Captain Ory and went to Stygia to the city of Set.

Upon arrival in Set, our duo sees all manner of sacrifice, slavery, and wickedness. Infiltrating the Temple of Set-Amen, our duo use various magics to Obfuscate the truth of themselves and fool Ni-Kali the elder Mage, and Emperor Torak. They are granted permission to enter the catacombs, and look for Janis at the Temple of Somatar.

Underground they take the Shahi-Ra mercenaries, and overcome the diabolical devil spiders as they mauraud through the army. Finally, they reach the mythical magical Null where all magics die. They skirt through it, bypassing the black masoleum of Somatar, and assault Janis at the Temple of Somatar. Janis first tries to recruit the duo, then resorts to trickery before finally revealing his vast army of zombies. Our duo, along with Suella and 3 Shahi-Ra infiltrate the Temple and find Janis within. Sen-Jan is about to pull off an ambush when Richord breaks silence. A slight skirmish ensues as Janis blasts each and every one of the party members but Sen-Jan obliterates Janis in a blaze of Celestial Fires.

Our party returns to Telfas who then gives them the secret location of the lost tower. what mysteries lay there?

Reclaiming the Void, Pod A

May 17, 2012 05:14

Our party picks up the pieces after the underground battle at the Wahua forum, healing, restoring, removing the dead, and regrouping with the reinforcements. Tomrand and the Iron Fists investigate the local manors for lurkers (treasure) and return empty handed (disappointed). Instead of the straight forward assault they investigate the hovels of Wahua. They discover that water still runs, and coalesces in small streams, where it finally departs the cavern in a dark cave. The party decides to travel down the cave, and Sen-Jan is assaulted by a crude trap of wood and metal. He hears voices, and travels on, only to discover a camp of hideous cannibalistic mutants. Richord assumes a role as their deity, Yakas, God of Light in Darkness came to save them from “He whose name can not be spoken”. Their ancient “reader” gives the party the “Stone that shall destroy him”, a ruby with the anger of Shahikis, betrayer of Ashik held within. Using the Wahuan refugess secret tunnel, the party makes their way under the Temple of the Void, up a secret passage and into the ancient cloisters. Led by Sticky, the party accidently sets off a mystical probe and immediately is in confrontation with a Void Demon. Fighting hard to save Sticky, Sen-Jan and Richord vanquish the beast. They then rush forth into the main chamber filled with thousands of undead and beings. Rashikis declares victory and rises to assault the entire army. Richord speaks harsh retribution and Sen-Jan hurls the anger ruby. In one foul swoop Rashikis and his army are vanquished, and the Armor of the Void is reclaimed. After much tussle, Richord and Sen-Jan decide the best course of action is to take the assembled armor to the Empyrean Citadel to let Raji the Brooding decide its fate…

Wahua Necropolis, Temple of the Void. Pod A

May 10, 2012 05:16

Our party begins in the Adamantium Temple. After good byes they travel by way gate to the Ars Draconis, and take the Mask of Chaos to Master Telfas of the Mysterium. He inspects it and discovers it is 1 of 4 pieces of the armor of the Lord of the Void, worn by Ashik the Conqueror long ago. They learn of the lost Empire of Wahua, and the obliteration of Ashik, but also that his son Rashikis still lives, as an immortal and undead Mage. 3 of the Pieces have returned to him. They also learn of some investigations into the same subject by Umtar and Janis, discovering some tomes about the subject of Rashikis hidden in the quarters of Janis. Given conscript of a sky ship, the Rising Sun, and its commander Captain Aerius, the party soon decides that 100 of the Mysterium Monks is not suffucient. They must find a larger ship. They learn that the Wind Rider is the largest craft at the sky port, but its captain Reezer is a dubious character. Fate intervenes and he grants the papers of the ship to Captain Aerius. The Iron Fists and the Shahi-Ra are summoned, and off the party goes to the Wahuan wastelands. Into the vast dust storm peers Sen-Jan, who uses his extensive Prime abilities to discern the illusion and the entrance to the Petrified city of Wahua. Breaking through the Paleolithic runes used as a ward, the monks, the mages, and the elite mercenaries head underground. Into a large antechamber they go, and over 1000 undead warriors assault them. The tides of battle look grim as the party is overrun, until Sen-Jan unleashes a Celestial smite upon them. With ruthless precision he nearly defeats the army by himself, only to be confronted by a Void Demon. In another titanic battle, the Void Demon nearly eats Sen-Jan before victory can be granted. Brushing up from their wounds, still badly in need of rest, the party pushes on, and now stands before the Temple of the Void, dwelling place of Rashikis the Lich Emperor…

Return to the Adamantium Temple, Pod A

April 23, 2012 15:22

After success at the Towers of Winternight, the party returns to the Adamantium Temple. It is here they are to retrieve the Mask of Chaos from Skaha-Khul and take it via “The Ways” to Master Telfas at the Ars Draconis. If the party wishes to do anything at the Adamantium Temple now is the time. A small honor guard is given by Shaka-Khul for orchestrating the wonderful assault at the Towers of Winternight. It is learned that Bellyna had gone rogue some time ago. They are saddened to hear that Shayla has perished as well. You are given a few days time to confer with Captain Tomrand and Suella with the Shahi-Ra as need be. Finally, Shaka-Khul takes you both to a lower chamber in which there are several Runed Gateways called “The Ways”. You see many messengers running to and fro, and with a flash of light they are off to some other far flung corner of the world. Shaka-Khul says you can send a messenger back if you have wish for your mercenaries, otherwise they will have them rest on the North Face of the fogs in the army encampments. There are 6 “Way Gates” from here that go to:
*The Ars Draconis Librum Mindi in Kosala, bastion of the Mysterium
*The Silver Ladder Consortium in Shem
*The Gates of the Guardians in Turan, bastion of the Guardians of the Veil
*A closed Way-Gate that is denoted “The Lost Tower”
*The Empyrean Citadel in Aquilonia, home of the Empyrean Wardens
*The Atlantian Gateway
When you are ready the two of you shall enter to the Ars Draconis with the Mask of Chaos and ask for Master Telfas, until then Shaka-Khul will be training. Should you use another Way-Gate that is fine, he just warns you to not go to the Ars Draconis until you are ready, for he foresees that it will set off a string of events that will require your full attention…

Battle at the Bridge of Winternight, Pod A

April 19, 2012 15:35

Our Wardens begin as they set encampment at the entrance into Ho-Tem valley. They can see the lake is full of fishermen, and the village is elaborate in construct due to the abundance of stone available. Mt. Winternight is covered in dense clouds, and the air is chill, the wind harsh.

Sen-Jan, Richord, and Suella venture into the village, discovering a large amount of barbarian slaves available. Once in the village, Richord chats up the locals for info, and Sen-Jan looks for covert signs of military strength. They soon believe the people here are peaceful. At the back end of the town is a Rotunda, the Temple of Ya-Zarra with a High Priest that is a mage. After some covert spying, they forge a plan of action, to free the barbarian slaves and conscript them into an army before granting them freedom.

At the slave pens, it is quickly revealed that Richord is none other than the Prince of Shem, son of King Ha-Shem. This curries a visit from the High Priest Vilosh himself. After a game of give and take with info, Richord reveals his vast army he travels with, taking away any advantage Vilosh and the village had. This forces Vilosh to lay down his pompous attitude and give our Mages a tour of the city. After suppering with Vilosh, his wife Mara finally breaks the silence and tells of the recent changes of the Towers of Winternight, and the oppressions and manipulations from up the mountain. This causes a stir, and even the mention of anything odd about the tower illicits a “visit” from the frost mages.

Two such Frost Mages come to harass Vilosh, and in so doing, our Mages unleash havoc on them. They are dead, and war has begun. Shayla foolishly runs up the path only to be baked to a cinder by an elaborate trap. Sen-Jan drains the Mana and Teluric ley lines for the trap, and from there the army gathers some 2500 strong and marches up the Paths of Winternight. At the end a huge stone bridge. As barbarian hordes pour forth from the cave on the other side, a tactical advantage is gained, and a momentous battle begins. With well coordinated use of magic, along with the tactical genius of Captain Tomrand and Suella, the foes are vanquished. The army crosses the bridge and slaughters the remnants. This leads to an isolated and perilous way up.

One brave soul, Moro of the Iron Fists, scales the glacier wall succesfully and lays down some rope work, enough forces climb to the top, and soon the party looks upon the Towers of Winternight. Here, they see the mechanisms of control, and learn that Bellyna the Ice Queen has taken control. Ya-Zarra is trapped above. In a bold and daring rescue, Ya-Zarra is freed, and he unleashes fury on Bellyna. The party assists his followers to decimate the Frost Mages of Bellyna. Ya-Zarra thanks our Wardens for their intervention, and grants them favor and alliance.

They then return to Ho-Tem to set things right with Vilosh, release the Yakal Mountain barbarians, and return to the Adamantium Temple to meet with Shaka-Khul…

Battle at winternight

Arrival at the Adamantium Temple, Pod A

April 12, 2012 15:03

Our party begins by gathering intelligence on exactly who is Ya-Zarra the frost mage, and who tried to kill them. Richord spends some time with Captain Tomrand and the Iron Fists, while Sen-Jan finds a node, then realizes he is in the very Temple of Sarduk itself. He follows a monk messenger from the Temple back to the palace kitchens where it seems inconceivably yet another poisoning plot is afoot. Sen-Jan thwarts this scheme. While waiting for the handmaidens to bathe Richord, Sen-Jan elicites assistance from Suella and the Shahi-Ra Mercenaries. They now have an army worthy of assaulting the Towers of Winternight.

The two decide to investigate the Temple more directly. In a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the High Priest Terin, our two Mages decide to go underground and see what all the hub-ub is about. Below is the boy yet again, though with a trick of Ice Ya-Zarra threatens them directly and a huge battle ensues. Our two mages are quickly overmateched with the ferocity of the monks, and Richord unleashes havoc in the Temple. First with a disasterous cave in from the fountains above, followed by a collapsing statue, then a swarm of deadly snakes. Finally with a bit of luck the tides of battle turn and Sen-Jan kills Rolind the boy, and Richord pursues Terin on foot. Above ground the chaos is more wide-spread as warriors, priests, and whores alike run for their lives as snakes overtake the temple. Sen-Jan finds a powerful ward on a dungeon door. He dispels the magics to reveal a captive Empyrean Warden names Shayla. After some reintegration and plotting, Richord and Sen-Jan decide Shayla is more brave than wise, and heed their own counsel to mislead everyone into thinking that they are headed to Lake Ho and the Towers of Winternight while they actually intend to travel to the Adamantium Temple.

With Warlord Zan-Yon’s head atop the Iron Fist’s pike, the barbarian tribes leave the party alone. After several days the two pass through the Fogs of Confusion and arrive at the temple. In a dramatic duel arcane, they gain access and meet the extremely powerful Shaka-Khul. he freezes time and speaks to them. In reward for bringing the mask he teaches each of them 3 Rotes. He also deems they must take the mask to Telfas at the Mysterium’s Ars Draconis, but first Ya-Zarra must be put down. Shaka-Khul sends out a force to the North to flank back and gives the party a trinket to keep them hidden on their journey back to Lake Ho.

The party arrives at Ho-Tem, the village on Lake Ho and the high mountains behind. They camp and prepare for the onslaught of the Towers of Winternight…

The Battle of Onagrul, the Demon Arrives, Pod A

April 04, 2012 17:11

Our heroes finish their talk with Sozar, the Frost Wilder. They then take some rest in their quarters, and then off to the feast in their honor. This feast appears to be a legitimate welcoming, until our honored guests realize they are in fact unwillingly recruited to dispatch the foul demon summoned by the Warlord Zan-Yon. It also seems that other forces are at work as goblets of poisoned wine are served. After nearly dying, Sen-Jan and Richord set out to figure out who in fact poisoned them. After much backtracking, it leads to Master Cook Yerk who took payment from the the Temple of Sarduk.

In the morning our party is involved in a battle planning for later in the day. It seems that the foul demon must be dispatched and the warlord stopped. And so as the eagle flies high at noon, the forces align and battle commences. It is here that our heroes see that Sozar in fact battles across the skies with snow and frost forces against another foe far to the north. As expected, the foul demon appears to feast on the Mana of the Mages and a huge battle ensues for our heroes. The demon exudes noxious gas which has 3 stages of effect, and our heroes feel all stages during battle. Sen-Jan takes the brunt of the damage as he stands toe to toe with the foul creature, while Richord slowly dismantles him with his Fate de-buffs from the background.

In the end, the party stands victorious, the demon is destroyed, and Suella destroys the amulet of summoning. King Harkayn honors the Atlantian Mages, and gives up the Mask of Chaos as per request of the missive. They are to travel to Central Hyrkania and deliver this item to Shaka-Kul, Grand Vizier of the Adamantine Arrow. However, there are loose ends; this Temple of Sarduk that tried to poison them, and the mysterious Frost Mage from the Tower of Winternight…
