Bladed Weapons
While they may not have progressed to the same level as firearms, blades still find significant use in the modern universe and have evolved over time. They tend to be constructed from extremely durable material, with molecular-thin cutting edges. Some soldiers favor melee weapons due to the fact that they are not affected by personal shields.
Almost all arms manufacturers have a line of melee weapons available for purchase. Most companies, however, have a specialty product that is superior to similar items from other manufacturers.
Purchasing a specialty item increases the cost by 50%, but grants a +1 to Fighting rolls with the weapon.

Note: All melee weapons under the “Modern” heading from the Savage Worlds core book are available for purchase from various manufacturers. Due to technological advances in crafting and materials, all other weapons increase their damage by 2, but have no specialty manufacturers.
