Planetary Governor requested audience with Pilot Watch. Seems he’s been unofficially labeled as the group leader. I wonder why St. John is not better suited to the role. Pilot Watch informs us that the Governor has employed us to travel to Chateaux. He instructs us that covert operations is imperative as the Planet is under the Federated Commonwealth and has not requested aid. But, he believes the planet will be attacked by the invaders. He also informed Watch that the weapons from the salvaged mech have been stripped from the mech and the technicians could not ascertain their capabilities. the governor instructed the techs to mount the weapons on Watch’s Chopper. We are to test the weapons and keep detailed logs of the results. I am to take note of any medical advances and treat it as an intelligence gathering mission.

I’ve done some research on Chateaux and it is a desert planet with two main cities, some mining activity and spice farmers. I have requisitioned Desert environment gear.

We fly on “Only Men Fly Business and First Class” airlines. LaRoche and I are stuck in Coach. Which ends up being fortunate as Conrad was led to the back of the ship in irons. Better that we have deniability. The flight is uneventful.

Upon arrival, I head to the city while Watch and LaRoche reassemble the Chopper. I make note of the government offices and listen in to any talk of military activity. Watch calls over the comms and says the Chopper is ready. so, I head to meet them at the base. The leader does his initial assessment and sets ua on the task of running the base 3 times. I take the opportunity to get a read of the camp. On one of the breaks, I slip a micro transmitter into the seams of the Comms depot.

The second day an inter-camp olympics of sorts is scheduled. Pilot watch is recruited to participate in the flight challenge. I am recruited for the "fastest surgeon challenge. Pilot Watch wins his challenge and I prove to be superior to their best surgeon. I hope their camp does not see much combat given the performance of their “best”.

Heading back from the competition, I hear the call for a medic. I run over to the mechanics pool. I find LaRoche being restrained by some mechanics and a dazed looking pilot on the ground. The mechanics tell me “she lost her mind!” I sub-vocalize into the comm “Just play along.” I then draw my Tranq gun and feign pulling the trigger and make a “SSSST”. noise. LaRoche goes limp. I instruct the mechanics holding her to take her to the med tent and I head over to the dazed Pilot. He appears to have a concussion. I tell the mechanics I’m too small to carry the pilot. We head to the Med tent. When we get there, LaRoche and some of the water supply is gone. I radio Watch to let him know and begin to administer assistance to the pilot.

During the second night, Comms officer Conrad leaves a message saying that a blip on the alien frequency appeared overnight. But, it is no longer active. I go to him to get more info and then head to the chopper to wake Watch and inform him. He decides to prepare for the enemy. I suggest contacting the city to warn them and arrange transportation off planet once we test the weapon system. I head to the spaceport and locate a dropship scheduled to arrive. I pay the comms officer to repeat a message instructing the dropship to contact us thru a private channel when they arrive in space. I then head back to the base.
