Location: Critwall – World Map
Map Tab Color: Brown
After the fighting, the cleanup commences and at this time Master Gilnaeus did not show up to a meeting between the Tower’s commander Alaric and Allister Tain. After several minutes pass, Master Gilnaeus is spotted on the top of the tower
, which Allister Tain and Will quickly make their way to the top of the tower to confront Master Gilnaeus. Master Gilnaeus inquires as to where Alaric was at, while explaining that he thinks something is occurring surrounding the weapons and armor.
Allister Tain and Will Kaden converse with each other about the oddity that is he mystery surrounding those protecting the artifacts that have already been acquired. Allister Tain and Will Kaden disagree as to what to do with them, Allister Tain wanting to keep them separated from the rest, while Will Kaden trusts in those that have been trained and designated to perform this task, and agree to keep the matter quiet from those around them.
Allister Tain entrusts the artifacts to Master Gilnaeus to hide in a secure place, which Allister Tain instructs Master Gilnaeus not to tell anyone, but himself. Master Gilnaeus teleports out, moments before Alaric emerges onto the Tower top and inquires as to where Master Gilnaeus has gone. Allister Tain is upfront with Alaric and explains what himself and Master Gilnaeus has decided to do and explains his suspicions on the matter of the artifacts. After much discussion on the matter, Alaric and Allister Tain finally come to an understanding to wait for Master Gilnaeus return.
Upon Master Gilnaeus return, nearly 10 minutes later, Alaric demands of him where the artifacts are and when they would be delivered to Critwal. The two had an increasingly heated conversation over the party’s not turning over the artifacts and the lunacy of not handing over the artifacts to those that are trained and designated to handle them. Finally, Alaric states that he would be informing his superiors of the party’s actions, then storms off with his guards trailing behind him.
The party discusses how they will be handling the situation, deciding to leave the talking to Allister Tain, except for where necessary and teleport back to Critwal to prepare and speak with their handlers. The party is shown to their rooms to wait for several hours, before being summoned to speak with the commanders.
Gabriel tells the group that because of the party’s actions, they do not trust that the party has not had some sort of distrust placed upon them, because of this they have decided to not have the party as part of the main force. It has been decided that the party will be used as part of a distractionary force, instead of the main force. The party discusses with him as to the wisdom of the party not being placed on the main assault. Master Gilnaeus and Allister Tain finally offer to return at most half the artifacts back, but cannot agree with Gabriel on what exact pieces would be returned, finally deciding that the party would take their leave and are thusly escorted to their rooms to gather their belongings and brought to the teleporting area.
Upon being asked to where the party would be teleported to, Allister Tain states that they would like to be deposited at the giant’s village. Upon being left alone outside the village,

Master Gilnaeus and Allister Tain come up with a plan to attempt to get back onto the front long of battle, by asking the Giant chief to make them honorary members of the tribe. The party is escorted to the chieftain, who greets them warmly.
Allister Tain and the chieftain exchange pleasantries for a moment, before Allister Tain makes his request to before honorary members of the tribe. A spray of ale is the chieftain’s initial response, before he inquires why. Allister Tain explains the situation as best he can, without telling much about the artifacts. Upon Allister Tain mentioning of the upcoming assault, the chieftain inquires about what assault he was talking about, to which Allister Tain expresses regret about his not being in a position to explain more of other’s plans. The chieftain tells the party that he will consider the request and has them escorted to a hall to have food and drink while they wait.
After an hour wait, the chieftain returns with several members of his tribe and informs the party that he will have to decline the request and for the party to leave his village. Allister Tain makes an impassioned plea with the chieftain to reconsider his decision, which makes the chieftain reconsider his action and make the party temporary, honorary members of their tribe. The chieftain excuses himself to make his decision known to Gabriel and the others.
The chieftain explains what the party’s role will be as members of the tribe, which is to engage the main force, to buy the other more specialized parties to perform their tasks. The party discusses what their game plan will be, after the chieftain leaves, deciding to move onto acquiring the relic, as soon as the primary mission is completed. That evening the party prepares for the next day and plans what they will be doing on the marrow.
Allister Tain discusses with the party the possibility of summoning a planar ally to assist, however asks if the party would be willing to assist with payment. The party agrees to assist with the payment and Allister Tain starts summoning a Planetar. Upon completion of the summoning, the Planetar Castel arrives and asks who summoned them. Allister Tain speaks up as the one who summoned them and explains the task that the party is preparing to undertake. Castel tells the party that he knows of what Allister Tain speaks and agrees to assist the party for no payment. Castel tells of a fallen one who has captured one of their own and forced them to power the lifestone.
Allister Tain agrees for the party to assist Castel in destroying the lifestone and freeing the enslaved angel. The casters in the party start their flurry of spells to prepare the party for the upcoming encounter. After all the preparations, the party meets with the giant and prepares to leave for their designated location. The giant cleric informs the party that they are not to engage any of the lesser peons, but attack on of the generals at the location, which is a night shade of some sort.
The party is teleported into the designated location, which is an incredibly dark area, only allowing most vision out to only about 30 feet. The fog is oppressive, leaving a feeling of hopelessness in the back of one’s mind. Strangely as it maybe, the party did not teleport into the middle of the storm giant’s army as was intended, and it appears that the group is several miles off. Allister Tain casts ant haul on one of the giants, who then picks up the party members and all the giants make haste in the direction that the army is supposed to be.
After several minutes of traveling, a large cloaked figure carrying a scythe appears from the fog.
After the figure emerges, several other figures appear from the fog. The cloaked figure announces himself as “Death, the last of the horsemen”. Death disappears momentarily, only to reappear in front of the group, swinging its scythe at the shaman, but misses. Again Death disappears and reappears behind the shaman and attacks again this time hitting, then disappears once again, appearing on the other side of the shaman, landing a mighty blow on it, causing the shaman to fall over, bursting into flames and ultimately turning to ash, as Death disappears entirely.
The two other storm giants gently place those they’re carrying down gently and look around at what happened. Lyzander Blaine , wanting to unload on Death, turns his attention to the creature closest to himself. After several arrows, the figure falls to the ground, dissipating upon contact with the ground. Lyzander Blaine turns his remaining attention to the next closest figure, hitting with one mighty blow and another moderate hit, causing that figure to dissipate as well.
The Planetar makes his way towards the nearest figure and attacks, landing a mighty blow on the figure. The figure closest to the Planetar summons another of its kind, then both figure move towards the Plantar, opening themselves up to the Planetar, which lands a mighty blow, dissipating it. Another of the figures moves to Draghkar and attacks, but clumsily misses, having opening itself for attack from the nearest storm giant. Another figure moves forward to stand under Master Gilnaeus and stares up at him.
Master Gilnaeus moves forward and readies to perform an action when the time is right. Death appears next to Allister Tain, causing Allister Tain to channel positive energy to harm him, then lands an attack with its scythe. Death
continues to disappear and reappear several more times, each time swinging and missing on each, before once again disappearing entirely. Draghkar uses all his might to swing at the figure in front of him, landing a mighty blow.
One storm giant attempts to swing at the nearest figure, but overextends itself and comes crashing down, while the other storm giant lands a mighty blow on the figure next to Draghkar, causing it to dissipate. Lyzander Blaine takes aim at the figure next to the downed storm giant and unleashes several arrows at it, causing it to dissolve, then turns his attention to the last of the figures, hitting it with several arrows.
The Planetar dispatches the last of the figures easily then moves back next to Allister Tain, who cures his critical wounds on himself. Will Kaden quickly makes his way to be near Allister Tain, while Master Gilnaeus moves back to the majority of the party, then prepares to cast dimensional anchor on Death the next time he sees him, which happens fairly quickly afterwards. Master Gilnaeus attempts to cast the spell, but is unable to touch Death from his range. Death starts his disappearing and reappearing act as he unleashes his attacks on Allister Tain, but is unable to connect and disappears completely once again.
Draghkar makes his way to stand before Allister Tain, then calls out, “Death fights like a Bitch!” The downed storm giant takes his time to get back to his feet, while the other giant moves to behind the party. Will and Allister Tain prepare to attack Death, when it comes for them, along with the Planetar. Master Gilnaeus moves to hover just before the party and prepares to cast magic missile upon it, when it appears.
Death makes its appearance behind Allister Tain, triggering a volley of attacks from the party. The storm giant starts the volley against Death, inflecting a moderate amount of damage. Lyzander Blaine follows with a mighty hit, dealing a massive amount of damage to Death, with a blow that would stagger an otherwise living creature. Allister Tain and the Planetar swing at the creature as well, but both miss Death, however Master Gilnaeus magic missiles strike true on Death. Death once again starts his disappearing act, concentrating on Allister Tain and missing with all attacks.
Will Kaden moves next to Allister Tain, who prepares to touch Death with a cure spell. Draghkar moves forward next to Will Kaden and Allister Tain and prepares to swing at Death once he appears. The Storm giants move around the party to protect the Allister Tain, while Master Gilnaeus moves over Allister Tain and prepares an attack.
Death appears once again, however this time he appears next to Lyzander Blaine . Lyzander Blaine and the storm giant next to him unleash attacks on Death, but both miss. Master Gilnaeus magic missiles are unerring as they hit Death. Death starts his attacks on Lysander, missing with the first, hitting with the next two for a moderate amount of damage, he does not disappear after his attacks.
Draghkar happily steps forward and attacks Death, hitting with his first hit for a moderate amount of damage, but misses his other attacks. The storm giant next to Death attacks Death as well, hitting Death with a massive blow, causing it to dissipate as well, leaving the robe behind.
Master Gilnaeus moves next to the remains and inspects the area, however upon his inspection, he doesn’t detect any magic. Master Gilnaeus moves the robes Death left behind, but finds no scythe behind. The party gathers some of the shaman’s ashes then continue on to join with the storm giant army.
After covering several miles of travel, the party starts to hear the sounds of a pitched battle. Finally the party emerges onto the battlefield, where storm giants are engaged with various sized beasts and monsters. In the middle of the battlefield is a gargantuan centipede, night crawler, creature tearing storm giants apart. The party prepares themselves for battle with the night shade they had heard about previously. A gravelly voice speaks in the mind of the party, “Come meet your doom!”The nightcrawler burrows down into the ground as Draghkar takes out a wand and casts blur on himself. Allister Tain casts deathward on himself then prepares to move forward after the giant places them on the ground. Will prepares to attack the nightcrawler when it appears, after the storm giants put him down. The Planetar prepares to attack the nightcrawler as well, should it appear. Master Gilnaeus casts haste upon the party, moves up into the air, and quickly casts mirror image on himself, while Lysander prepares to attack the nightcrawler as well, when it appears, loading silver arrows in his bow.
The nightcrawler bursts from the ground near Draghkar and a storm giant and bites down on Draghkar, dealing massive amounts of damage and grabs him in its mouth. Lysander unleashes his attack as the creature, hitting it for a decent amount of damage. Draghkar, angered by his current situation attempts to escape the creature’s mouth, but is unable to break free. Allister Tain drops his echoing rod and pulls out his reach rod, casting freedom of movement on Draghkar. Will calls out, “Protect me Heroneous!” and moves up next to the worm, opening himself to an attack that misses from the nightcrawler, then takes a defensive swing at the creature, but misses.
The Planetar moves next to the nightcrawler as well and swings, hitting it for a moderate amount of damage. Master Gilnaeus launches a spell, that seems to miss the nightcrawler and lands several feet behind it. The bright light from the harmful surge, empowered sunlight spell washes over the nightcrawler, boiling the scales on its back. The storm giants start their attacks on the nightcrawler, one missing with all their attacks, while the other one lands a mighty blow to its head.
Lysander unleashes his volley at the nightcrawler, hitting with five of the seven arrows he launched at it for a moderate amount of damage. The nightcrawler drops Draghkar from its mouth then appears to heal from some of the damage, the party harmed him. The nightcrawler blindly bites at Lysander, but is unable to connect with what would be an otherwise mighty blow, it then unleashes a quick cone of cold upon all of the party except for, except for Plantar. The nightcrawler starts to burrow into the ground, opening itself for attack from Will, who misses with his attack, the Planetar who hits with his attack, Draghkar who barely misses with his attack, and a storm giant whose attack manages to finish the nightcrawler. Upon its death, the various undead creatures in the area fall to the ground.
After completing their primary objective, the party makes their way onto the life stone. After making their way for a while, the party finds a large plateform of an odd stone. Atop the altar is a glowing green portal and at the four corners of the altar are 4 colossal zombies torn to pieces. All around the altar are the corpses of many paladins, the brown robes with insects scurrying around, and a rather beaten Solar looking creature lying on the ground, the black evil looking armor makes this appear to be the evil angel that the Planetar told about.
Master Gilnaeus flies up and examines the battlefield from the sky. Among the dead he spots Castiel, split nearly in two, and brings him back to the party, placing it before Allister Tain. The Planetar tells the party that this man could not be brought back, because the wound appears to be from a weapon that steals the soul from those that are killed by it.
The storm giants gather many of the bodies of the fallen, to bring them back to Critwal, when prepared. The party asks the Planetar if he can sense the Solar that was still alive and he states that he cannot sense the creature. Master Gilnaeus examines the portal and finds that it was designed to keep outsiders within its bounds, upon entering the portal he sees a room with chains around the room, linking an altar up to a hole in the ceiling where the life stone once was. Upon exiting, Master Gilnaeus explains the scene within and advises the Planetar to not enter as to the nature of the portal.
Master Gilnaeus inquires as to what should be done with the fallen one, to which the Planetar states that it should be left to rot, because it has forfeit its soul. The party discusses their next move, deciding to return to the storm giant village to return the ashes of the shaman. The party is greeted by the storm giants and brought before the chieftain and fill him in as to how the battle went.
Before returning to Critwal, Allister Tain asks Master Gilnaeus to retrieve the artifacts, to which he leaves to do so. After much time passes, Master Gilnaeus returns with the armor and informs Allister Tain that the temple in Greyhawk was destroyed and Justinious was dead and the weapons were gone. Master Gilnaeus teleports the party a half-mile out of Critwal, then leaves to gather the equipment collected, selling them, and leaving each parties share in Dyvers.
After dropping the party off, Master Gilnaeus teleports away and the party makes their way to the gates of Critwal.
The party, minus Master Gilnaeus, is lead into Critwal and is met by Thalin, who inquires as to the business of the party and informs them that Gabriel has been injured greatly. Allister Tain offers his services to help cure Gabriel of the dark magics that continue to harm him. Allister Tain also turns over the armors that Master Gilnaeus has given him and Thalin informs him that the weapons have disappeared some time during the raid.
Allister Tain is ushered into Gabriel’s chambers, who is lying in his bed looking extremely weak and beaten, with a gash across his chest. Allister Tain does a thorough inspection upon Gabriel, but is unsuccessful, until he examines him while under the effect of True Seeing. Allister Tain summons Natail to examine the wound as well, who quickly appears and assists Allister Tain in the examination. The two finally decide that should they be able to treat this as one would treat mummy rot with the help of a rod of quickening.
With the help of another Cleric, the three launch a flurry of spells in order to remove the aura from Gabriel. After casting the spells, the aura on Gabriel slowly starts to lift from him.

Just before the party is shown to their rooms, a runner shows up and states that the temple of Pelor in Greyhawk is gone, not only attacked, but gone along with everything around it.
As the party makes their way through the halls, those around them shoot them unsure looks and treat them wearily. The next morning the party is met and briefed prior to meeting with Gabriel; there they are instructed that there must be some sort of contingency upon the weapons that must have triggered upon the party’s killing of the last Horseman.
The party meets with Gabriel and discusses the decisions that had been made and the outcomes that the last days have provided. Allister Tain discusses the next move that the party might take; looking to visit what was once the temple of Pelor. Gabriel offers the armory and inventory of Critwal to the members of the party, should they choose to accept it, along with 10 acres of land to each member, for services provided.
All of the party members accept Gabriel’s gracious offer save Allister Tain who donates the land and wealth to establish an orphanage for the victims of this conflict.
After perusing the armory and taking the equipment the party members want, the party then makes their way to Dyvers.
