Location: The Demonwing (Abyssal Plane) – World Map
Map Tab Color: Orange
Having survived the battles with the underwater terror and the massive six-legged giant the group took refuge in the cambion’s chambers. Besides the chamber’s master who introduced himself as Threakil, there were two other individuals inside. One was a halfling named Klam and the other a humanoid named, Elymbar Sylanra.
“Maybe you are worthy and up to the task”, Threakil wondered outloud.
Threakil explained that his father was in fact, the very Balor they sought. He further explained that he wished to overthrow his father and had been communicating with Ancalagon. His story continued to describe a special gem hidden in the temple area. The gem contains certain powers to which the destruction of his father, the Balor will lead to.
Grimmjur stood guard at the door while Klam and Elymbar Sylanra made further introductions. They both had found their way onto th Demonwing to help purge the evil, however it had proven more than either of them had been able to handle. They offered to throw their lot in with the group and Entil-zha quickly accepted.
Before leaving, Threakil offered the services of a guide to help the party. “You will find him a good and faithful servant.”, he shared.
With a ‘pop’ and a small bit of smoke a small pudgy figure appeared.
Grimmjur grunted in disgust, Klam cowered, and Entil-zha chuckled as the identity of the scout became apparent.
“Hello, Meatbags!”, Rumple exclaimed.
The newly form group passed back into the bowels of the Demonwing. Cautiously they moved to a secre door which Rumple revealed to them.
“Careful halfling”, Entil-zha cautioned the smallish man as he began working on traps and challenges to which the party could only imagine existed.
“You have nothing to worry about”, Klam replied with a sly grin. The doorway made a series of clicking noises and then gave way opening inwards.
Once inside the group came upon a large ten foot wide and high door covered with mystical arcane runes.
“What do these mean?”, Zehklyn Auvyarth asked rhetorically.
“If only the finger-wiggler, Master Gilnaeus was here, he would know”, Grimmjur muttered.
Zehklyn Auvyarth look inquisitively at Grimmjur.
“Don’t look at me, I’m just a beast!”, he exclaimed.
“Enough!”, said Entil-zha, Klam – make the door open, please"
Klam moved over to the doorway and once again begain his ritual. Humming slightly to himself ha laughed once and then asked the group if they were ready.
“Of course we are ready mini-meatbag”, said Rumple.
The door swung open to reveal a large room covered in shadows and having arcane runes dancing across the walls. The floor was polished stone and the ceiling rose out of sight. Exploration of the room would have to wait as in the center stood a large warrior covered in a mystical metal armor and runes.
“Your intrustion cannot be forgiven”, the giant uttered in a language only a few could comprehend.
Battle ensued with the Runic Guardian. At points, spells and attacks seem to bounce off the guardian. In time, the might of the group overcame the would be guardian and the looting and examination of the room took place as the divine casters in the group begain to heal the party of their wounds.
This was going to be a tough fight through to the temple if there were more guardians like this. Knowing this, the group prepared to rest.
