Thrice The Brinded Cat

There are many rumors floating around Cauldron these days, with kidnappings, errant graffiti and kobold infestations on the rise, stories spread like wildfire.

Here we will keep a list of these precious gems and you can make of them as you will:

One terrific source of rumor and information is Edith Vernril, secretary at the Town Hall. Braenna has managed to gain the following bits from her:

  • “Oh yes, dear. There most certainly was a mighty fortress built by the dwarves long ago. It is called the Malachite Hold and it lies directly under our feet! There are supposed to be more than one entrance to the place. I have heard there is a shrine to Moradin (that’s the god you people keep wanting to worship all the time) that is out in the jungle somewhere and you can get to the Hold from there.”
  • “But there was another way! The gnomes of Cauldron long ago lived in a city all of their own. It was called Jzadirune and they built it right on top of the dwarven city. That’s right, dear, our city lies on top of a gnomish city which lies on top of a dwarven city, isn’t that quaint!”
  • “The last I heard, one of old Davked Splintershield’s sons had taken a group of dwarves down to the Malachite Hold and had taken up residence there.”
  • “I don’t know of any entrances to the gnomish city. Perhaps you should go ask a gnome! Or maybe look it up at the Academy. They have lots of books and things like that. There’s bound to be something like that in there.”
  • “You be careful, dear, and don’t go wandering around at night! It’s not safe in Cauldron any longer. People are dissapearing from their very homes! And there’s a very bad druid who has been haunting the shores of Bluecrater Lake at night….and if he catches you he’ll turn you into a duck!”
  • Janeer Everdon: one of the kidnap victims. Before being kidnapped she was an assistant cook at the orphanage.
  • Sam Kelton: a sailor and fisherman, two days ago saw a tentacled beast rise out of the Crater Lake.
  • Last week, according to Efrin, Hookface was spotted flying over the hills to the North by a group of adventurers.
  • From a bartender: The Flood Festival is a front to fund a Hextor cult’s secret army of mercenaries hidden below in caverns below the city.
  • Melfesent Tellwall said that a friend of hers has a mother who saw Triel Eldurast down by the lake yesterday. A wall guard who tried to assassinate the mayor. The guards who escorted her died of their wound. House Betrix is lead by a child. Her parents went crazy. Her aunt and uncle assumed control of the house. The Aunt and Uncle captured Triel but died from their wounds. She escaped from jail two years ago.
