History: ‘The Pit’ is a moniker given to the loose network of organizations which sponsor gladiatorial sport. Promoters act on behalf of said sponsorship to rank and schedule combatants.
Activities: Pit ‘Bulls’ are trained and scheduled for combat, based upon rank. Promoters for each event collect and control betting odds, which is the primary source of income.
Notes: Each Pit Bull is part of a ‘Stable’, which is owned by a single or collective sponsorship. The proper address is to state you are ‘of Stable <name>’.

PIT FIGHTING RULES

Pit Fighters have two options for combat: Quest Events and Pit Challenges

Quest Events are scheduled, organized combat which Pit Bulls can register for. These events have a scheduled time and place, and play out like a normal combat encounter. Quest Events offer guild points, which are the only way a fighter can increase in Rank.

Pit Challenges are adhoc attempts to get billed on an upcoming event. The mechanics are simplified to speed combat. While Pit Challenges do not offer guild points, they are an option to generate prize money rewards quickly.

FINDING A CHALLENGE
The first step to Pit Challenges is to find out if any events are scheduled for the day. This is a three-step process.

The first step is to try to find a local Promoter (Streetwise). If you already know of a local Promoter than you can move to the second step.

The second step is to determine what challengers you can combat. A social check (Diplomacy/Intimidate(-2)/Streetwise) will determine the options available:
Easy – 1 Choice
Moderate – 2 Choices
Hard – 3 Choices

The final step is to choose your combatant. At this step you must choose a combatant and pay the entry fee.

PIT COMBAT
Pit Challenge fighting boils down to a series of d20 rolls made by the player, which may be re-ordered as desired. The final numbers are matched against the DC of the challenger to determine overall combat progress. Modifiers are cumulatively added to the DC of each roll to represent the challengers stamina, prowess, and combat intuition. The combatant with the most wins earns the purse.

Sample Combatant:
Name: Glass Joe
Rank: 2 – Rank eligibility
Rounds: 3 – Number of d20s
CR: 10 – Number to beat
Modifiers: +0, -1, -1 – Joe gets weaker as you land hits. After you score a 10, your next rolls to hit 9, and then 8.
Entry Fee: 20g – Pay to Play
Purse: Win 40g, Lose 5g – The Payoff
Odds: P-1:3 / C-2:1 – What others can win by betting on Player P or NPC C
Max Bet: 50g – Max Bet

TIME
Pit Challenges and Quest Events require 1/2 day for booking, scheduled training, and the main event.
Guests attending a Pit Challenge or Quest Event spend 1hr per rank at an event.
