Famine
Famine covers the penultimate days of winter, more than halfway through but not quite to the end. It is during this time that people discover whether or not the food and supplies they managed to gather during the year were enough to last the winter. Even if materials seem plentiful, people often cut back during this time, just in case the winter lasts longer than expected. Of course, if food stores are going to run out over the course of the winter, Famine is the month in which it is most likely to happen.
