Dracula Rising

The Eve of War

Chad sat in the taxi for a moment after paying the driver. He wasn’t sure how many of this team would make it through the night, if any, but he’d do his damnedest to make sure it happened. In situations like this, Chad envied Alicia. She was a soldier, and casualties are part of the job. Not so for Chad. If they lost even a single person, he’d consider the attack a failure. Not so much a loss if he died achieving their goals, but unfortunately he was the least likely to be killed. He sat for a few more seconds, dwelling on the morbid situation they’d all been launched into before he heard Connor getting out of the cab. He did the same and turned to him as the taxi drove off. He looked at the claws he’d grown, then up at the night sky. “Everything changes, you know that? And sometimes we have to fight for it, or against it. It’ll wear on you when you’ve lasted a century or two. Just keep in mind that she’s the reason you do it. And you’re her reason. Use that when we go in there and kick ass.”
