With their numbers whittled by one and a severely injured mind slicer inside, and the rest of my friends now joining me we all entered the chamber of the bitter glass in force. A Floating undead lightning throwing githyanki giving the orders, telling the remaining githyanki to retreat to the inside of the bitter glass. We made them make it a fighting withdrawal. All of us chased down the Githyanki down the collapsed roof and into the bitter glass chamber proper. I pulled one with my censure to and dropped him into the ravine – divide and conquer. CoBok and Yamis Charged across the stone bridge and cut another one off laying some serious blows, while Gil moved with great alacrity to the entrance of the bitter glass itself. Inside were the undead creature and the severely injured mind slicer. The Mind slicer was shocked at Gil’s entrance having thought himself safe from immediate attack… such are the ability’s of the goliath warlord, deceptive speed and grace of movement coupled with a rare tenacity… the mind slicer was poked with a spear from the doorway before he knew what had fully happened.
Sheldon had taken the form of a small flying creature, as he usually does and flew toward the far door of the bitter glass and took cover behind its stone stairs. I joined Gil approaching the southern door just as the Bitter glass let out a large hummmmmm, brmmmmmm, Boom. A blast of toxic psychic energies that left is all a bit befuddled. The blast was most potent against Sheldon who I spied having a trickle of blood coming from his nose… and affected me the least. Yamis and Co’Bok hacked away at a very unlucky Githyanki that had recently climbed out of the pit, and ended him then started to make their way toward the northern entrance to the bitter glass. In short order there were 2 githyanki and the 5 of us inside the stained glass globe. The floating githyanki misjudged her flying advantage inside such a small place, instead of being able to move off and blast at us from afar the space inside the globe only served to keep her where we could get her. And she went down quickly. But the bitter glass was still blasting us with psychic power. We decided that the only thing for it was to attempt to destroy it. I harnessed my arcane powers and channeled the glasses force down and through my sword. I acted like a vessel of sorts holding all that power in me thousands of voice screamed at me in a cacophony of indiscernible thoughts, trying to overwhelm my own thoughts. After a short while it was too much and I could hold it no longer. I staggered as waves of energy flowed back to the glass and burst forth . In a moment I could focus and see that my friends had been busy smashing the globe to bits… I refocused myself and started collecting the energies again. The buildup was tremendous then everything was suddenly silent, with only my own thoughts to occupy my head I was suddenly at peace. Coming out of my reverie I saw the globe destroyed.
Pieces of glass scattered about, and Sheldon looking for pieces of more significance than the rest. While I jumped down out of the wreckage of the globe to the floor below. I rested briefly and tried to sort my mind. As I did I recognized a voice – Telicanthis in my memory trying to give orders through the glass… and it not working so well… I smiled inwardly at his frustration, but then realized that Amariya had not captured him with the rest of the conclave, and the city guard… that’s not good. He will surely come to investigate – with backup no doubt.
“We need to rest quickly. Telecanthis and his friends will undoubtedly be coming to investigate. We have to assume he’s on his way now.”
Looking at my friends Co’Bok had taken a serious beating, while the rest of us looked as if we could take a nice long sleep as well. Yamis spoke up, ”Then we have little time. Co’Bok is not fit to keep fighting I need to cast a ritual to spread our strength, and rejuvenate him.
“Be quick there is no telling when he will arrive. Lets move to the narrow pass we had to come through… its more defensible.”, I responded
We moved to the narrows and set up a lookout while Yamis completed his casting. We each drank from a cup and felt the blessings of Pelore warm us. Soon Co’Bok looked much refreshed, and fit to take on all comers. We started to make our way toward the exit as we noticed movement from the passage… some took cover others prepared and ambush. I took point and invited them to come and attack me with a smile.
“What took you so long?”, I called into the semi-darkness. Several attempted to charge me, Gil and Sheldon struck them down as they emerged into the light.
With one getting through and laying a lucky blow on me. Yamis then charged down the passage intercepting another. I heard spell casting and charged down as well intercepting the spell caster and laying some blows on him dropping my hex as well so that he would not harry the others… it was then that I noticed several spell casters and a couple of warrior types still standing.
Then I heard it… that whiny arrogant overly enunciated voice of Telicanthis, “What have you done! You’ve destroyed it! Sayre could have been spared, merely subjugated. Now it will have to be destroyed!”, he bellowed as I heard more spell casting and grunts from Sheldon and Co’Bok coming from behind me. Sometimes I hate being right… but how they got past us to attack from behind is a mystery. There are no teleportation portals behind and we did not find any other passages into here. Most unfair…

“Pennel you son of a ugly whore… You’re gonna pay”, I heard Sheldon say followed by a series of grunts

Yamis moved out to try and provide some healing but was hindered by some sort of shadowy vortex that the spellcaster on the stairs had thrown out Gil did the same realizing that our rear was now being attacked and Sheldon and Co’Bok were exposed with no support.
“Where the f@#k is Amariya and the city guards… we could use a hand here…!”
The 10 O’Clock Bell Strikes…

Backup? Since when do you need help in your fights?
Although there has been a few times where NPCs joined w/ you guys. Danen Greef in ‘Bordrins Watch’, Reniss in ‘Shadowrift of Umbraforge’, Jalissa in ‘Karak Lode & Monastary of the One Truth’, & the Freeriders in ‘Monastary of the One Truth’. That was when they joined you for that epic two-sided battle in the glass hall with the frost creatures and the ice beholder.
“That’s it man, game over man, game over! What the f@#k are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?” Excellent log as usual
the difference her is 4 back to back to back encounters with no real rest. none of had any daily powers left and the bad guys had all the the tricks…
