Front Page Recap Logs - Throne of the Stone-Skinned King
SESSION 107 - After the feast, our heroes met with Bejam and his entourage of Thraxinium and went aboard Brindol’s Pride to head back to Sayre. The journey was uneventful. The sea calm. The weather advantageous. Once back in Sayre, on the morning of the 6th day, they were greeted by a glum Danen Greef. Things quickly became hurried, as Danen led our heroes back to where the council was waiting. It seems the PotP has acquired a new building as their headquarters. Danen explained that this was Divian Torrance’s doing and his last deed. Danen questioned himself regarding the fact at letting Divian join his mission to go after the cyclops slavers. Gil did a good bit of encouraging, which helped to lift Danen’s spirits. The first order of business was to sign-in Bejam, representating the Nefelese people, and then a friendly face from the past, Lord Eoffram Troyas, representing the people of the Elsir Vale. The second order of business was to vote in a new leader. At this point, Bejam spoke up about motioning a vote for The Green Dawn to be considered as a full voting member. There was quite a few exchanges from the council members, and some knowing glances as well, but the general feeling was that the PotP was not interested in making them a member of the council. A recess was called by Fariex. A half-hour later, Amyria came to get our heroes. Once back in the council chamber, Fariex spoke quietly about coming to an agreement for a new leader. Amyria was to be named the new leader. The vote was almost unanimous. Fariex then spoke to our heroes and stated that although the council has voted no on allowing them to be full members, they did name them to step into Amyria’s vacated station of ‘Ambassador of PotP’. Sheldon wasn’t happy, nor Damakos, but Amyria pulled the group aside. She offered her vote with their voice. So, in a round-about way, the group will help Amyria make decisions and she will cast her vote based on their guidance and support. It was the best it was going to be at this point. The conversation turned to the current assessment. Details of cyclops slavers taking people as slaves from the Elsir Vale was the hot topic. Cachlain, The Stone-Skinned King was brought to topic and it was mentioned that he has been mostly neutral in world events for last few decades. It seemed strange to the council that he is now helping the Githyanki by allowing them to use his underdark realm to funnel troops to the Prime. Damakos had important & vital information, which he held to himself until after the council business was over, but during the meeting, the council decreed that a diplomatic ensemble should visit Cachlain’s court and find out what is happening. They also discussed trying to get Cachlain and his formorian people to join the ‘PotP’. It would take a grand gift to make it happen. The Seed of Winter? Damakos explained that his source stated that Cachlain has a new advisor and things in the court haven’t been the same since. Our heroes decided to elect themselves as the delegates to go to his fey court in the underdark. But first, they’ll need one of the portal keys to gain access. With the information Damakos had, he knew of an outpost in the Ruins of Rhest where the cyclops were keeping their prisoners before transfer. They had to act quick, so they informed the council and then headed out to intercept this group…
SESSION 108 - ur heroes left Overlook heading north into the wilds where they would eventually come upon the great ruins of Rhest, the city of the ancients and greatest empire ever known. It is now mostly buried in the swamps, but remnants still remain. It was one of these remnants that they were looking for. Damakos’s contact said where to look and sure enough, after some searching & tracking, they found an underground area of the ruins still intact and being used by a group of cyclops slavers. They had a stone golem with them. This won’t be so easy. Sheldon went in first to find a spot to strike with surprise, and then the group came through the smaller hallway to engage. They weren’t so quiet, and the fight was started. Despite having surprise and getting in a good shot, he found himself being attacked by two of the cyclops and before he knew it, he was knocked out. The group was fighting at the bottle-neck near the entrance, but Yamis was still able to bring Sheldon back to consciousness. Seems the cyclops weren’t out for the kill, but rather for the sport. Were our heroes meant to be taken as slaves too? That wouldn’t be happening, as the tide slowly turned. Before long, all the cyclops and their stone golem were dead. The key and ritual map was being kept in the golem, but that was recovered from the debris. The last two cyclops asked for quarter. Yamis knocked one out, but the other was killed by the rest. In came a mysterious darkly dressed man. Damakos’ contact. He had a raspy voice, and his face was veiled with a thick grey scarf. Atop his head was a fur hat, the sort the russkies would wear back in time during the ‘cold war’. With the fight over, he met with Damakos for some quiet talk. Sheldon helped the prisoners out of their holding pen and shortly after, our heroes sent them back to Overlook using their portal ritual. Damakos’s contact, Enderelion Ashlai, also used this to head back with the prisoners. Sheldon couldn’t help but feel like he knew this person, although very vaguely. Why did he have to be SO disguised and/or covered up? With the ritual map in hand, they knew where to go next. It was time to rest before leaving this plane.
SESSION 113 - Another of Tiamat’s exarchs are dead. This time it was a being called Virizan, aka Sovacles. Defeated in his human form, and the source of King Cachlain’s corrupted mind, Virizan took four more forms before being vanquished in the Stone-Skinned King’s gladiatorial arena. After the fight, King Cachlain seemed to be himself again. He offered a couple magic items as a reward for the group helping him, but his ultimate desire still laid deep with the Seed of Winter. He spoke of joining the Protectors of the Prime, but only if they could retrieve the Seed. If he only knew they carried it with them. They left his court, rested in Inzira’s eladrin camp, and then went home (with the seed). Once home, they took care of some mundane things then called for a council meeting and debriefing. Prior to this, Bramko Ironfell came through, big time actually, and provided a partial map to the Githyanki ship docks in the astral plane, some encrypted notes detailing the whereabouts of a mysterious planar portal, and soul-gems which he told them were source of energy for the githyanki airships. Basically, fuel for the ship. A few days later a message arrived from a commander near the frontier in the north, in the Elsir Vale, north of Brindol. His report detailed githyanki movement but strangely no attacks. He noted a deep concern. With that, and no other leads, it seems our heroes will be heading there next for an investigation.
