I must rest after the bloodbath I have just experienced. Normally I would spend my time cleaning weapons and armor, checking the spoils of battle but that does not settle my mind…

I have feared for m’lady’s life a few times since she took to traveling but never like today. It appears my worries were well founded. We were bound by law to seek out the goods of Vigo the merchant since we had been responsible for guarding them. We tracked a lead to a cave hidden behind a waterfall. Assuming it would be guarded by the same orcs that stole the goods I knew it would be a dangerous encounter. I will not allow my mind to wander to the details of the encounter as the wounds still throb in my ribs and skull.

Once I ensured that each foe was truely dispatched, I arranged the bodies of each of my companions as best I could. I lay Varius, Dahlek and Helton with their weapons in positions of honor and Lady Bridgette, I lay with the staff she had been carrying. I can’t help but think that, had we but one more member the party might have been saved. I must close my eyes now for a few minutes.

Some time later…

Praise the Gods! I was awakened by a moaning sound, the sound of m’lady waking. I must have been in error, I would have sworn to Sarish that all my companions were dead! I put my quill away as surely there must be more important things to do.
