The Lightbringers grew out of the secretive Undead Resistance Front, an organisation dedicated to undermining the actions of the undead forces occupying most of Pedastria’s towns. Until recently, their headquarters were based in Katorga, though it’s recent upheaval has caused them to relocate their leadership.
They take their name from the popular nickname applied to the adventuring group that later reformed them 30 years ago and continue in their grand tradition of protecting the safety of the populace who remain threatened by the risen dead. Though most of the founding members of the society, including the great Lord Jack British and Rafael Kayleth, are dead or missing (presumed undead), the Lightbringers have gone from strength to strength in their opposition to the undead in general and the Low King of Pedastria and The Lady.
N.B. The reason they aren’t called “URF” is it was deemed that a guttural noise, such as that made when somebody punches you in the stomach, was undignified for such note-worthy organisation. Indeed there are those who joke, morbidly, that Lord British began his second foray into the depths of undead territory not to quell a great threat, but to remove such a ridiculous state of affairs.
