I don’t know if anyone is going to see this, but I’ve created a FATE Pokemon system, and I think it captures the spirit of Pokemon much better than this. Here’s the link to the current ruleset: Pokemon FATE

Eh, this is just sitting on the backburner, so I haven’t done any real work with it in a long time. If you have any ideas, though, feel free to let me know.

This whole system looks really amazing, as I’ve said before. But it looks like bits and pieces are missing in some sections (Greater Callings). Are those coming up anytime soon?

Yeah, Derek, let me know if you figure it out. I’m sure parts of it can be smoothed over.

I didn’t actually come up with the system. It’s from Pokéthulhu by Cumberland Games.

A lot of work was obviously put into this. I’m in awe. I can’t wait to see how this turns out.

Seems like a cool concept. I’m not quite sure where, but I think it might need some tweaking; it just seems a little off… But it’s bothering me that I can’t pinpoint the exact flaws haha. I’ll read through everything again, and try to see if I can spot anything; maybe it’s just because I’m tired idk. Great work so far though haha

Sample Battle: Bird Keeper (Command 7) vs. Bug Catcher (Command 7)

Bug Catcher sends out Kakuna.

Kakuna
POW: 5
SPD: 7
HP: 8

Bird Keeper sends out Pidgeotto.

Pidgeotto
POW: 6
SPD: 8
HP: 6

Pidgeotto is faster, so he goes first. Bird Keeper decides to try to Trap the Kakuna, so Pidgeotto kicks up a wind storm around Kakuna. Pidgeotto has Trap 2, and Kakuna is weak to Flying attacks, so Bird Keeper rolls 3 dice against the lower of Pidgeotto’s SPD (8) and Bird Keeper’s Command (7). He rolls 2, 8, and 11. The 2 is the only successful die, and Kakuna is trapped!

Kakuna must escape. It rolls 3d against the highest of its POW (5) and SPD (7). It also has to beat Pidgeotto’s Trap roll (2). Bug Catcher rolls 10, 5, and 8. The 5 is successful, and Kakuna breaks free.

Bird Keeper orders Pidgeotto to attack. He rolls 2d against the lower of POW (6) and Command (7) and get 4, 9, and 6. Pidgeotto deals 6 damage to Kakuna.

Bug Catcher tells Kakuna to Dodge. It has 2 dice to Dodge, but Flying is resistant to Bug, so he only rolls 1d against SPD (7) and Command (7). Fortunately, the die turns up 7. Kakuna hardens its shell just before Pidgeotto strikes, and all 6 points of damage are removed. Since Bug Catcher rolled higher than 6, Kakuna is entitled to a free attack, but it will be capped at 1 (the excess rolled). Bug Catcher decides to Injure, but the die rolls 10, which fails.

Pidgeotto and Kakuna continue fighting until one of them runs out of HP, is Frightened, or double Trapped!

Ty spots a wild Ekans in Viridian Forest! Pikachu (SPD 6) is faster than Ekans (SPD 4), so it’s Pikachu’s turn.

Ty commands Pikachu to Injure the Ekans. His Pikachu has Injure 2, so Ty’s player rolls 2 dice, which turn up 3 and 7. Remember, Ty’s player is rolling against the lower of Pikachu’s POW (5) and Ty’s Command (5). The 7 is a failed die, but the 3 is successful, so Pikachu deals 3 damage to Ekans. Ekans now has 1 out of 4 HP.

The Ekans tries to Frighten (rank 2) Ty’s Pikachu. It rolls 2 dice against its POW (7), which turns up 4. The Ekans glares menacingly at Pikachu. It’s a successful roll, but it isn’t greater than Pikachu’s current HP (4), so Pikachu is fine.

It’s Ty’s and Pikachu’s turn again. The Ekans is weak, so Ty decides to throw a pokéball. He rolls 1d against his Throw skill, which is 5. The die turns up 3. Ty sends a pokéball flying. It pegs the wild Ekans, which turns into white energy as it gets sucked into the ball.

Now the Ekans wants to escape. It’s going to roll 3d (one at a time for dramatic effect!) against 4 (6 for a weak pokémon, -2 since Ekans is <= half health). Ekans also has to match or beat 3, Ty’s Throw roll. The pokéball wiggles once for 5! Then 2! 10! Ekans is caught, and the battle is over!

Do you think you’d be able to describe a sample battle? That might clear up any confusion with the dice system
