environmental suit
The environmental suit or “haz suit” is a flexible piece of clothing/protection used by spacers when working outside of a safe environment such as out in open space. The suits have a rebreathing apparatus that lasts anywhere from four hours to two days. Most have some form of auto-sealing for any damage done to the suit or and larger openings are sealed with quick patches.
Visibility and sound can be limited when wearing a haz suit. Fine operations involving the hands are very difficult. Large amounts of radiation are kept out and the user is generally kept cool and comfortable.
Improper use of a haz suit can lead to dangerous situations and even death.
