After a miscalculated fold, complete electrical failure, and a ship full of technologically impaired people from an isolated colony, it’s been a long day. We made contact with them and eventually found out their engines were AI infected. We agreed to help with their engines, and to help treat an illness on their home planet, in exchange for them repairing our ship. They have the knowledge for space flight, but they’ve become overly specialized. One man, one job. No backups, no redundancy. It’s amazing they got this far. I got to take a look at the people on board while doing some health check-ups, they are in generally good health, except for some mild radiation poisoning. I attributed this to proximity to the ships engine, but then found out that they’ve been in space for only a couple months, and their planet is right below us. I don’t know what to think, except that this radiation poisoning started on the planet, and that’s why their sick. I’ll make a point to check their power generators, water supply, food supply, and take readings from several parts of their underground colony. If I can find the source I might be able to help. The Haz-Suits are radiation shielded. I might take one of those, but then again, the others believe I’m too eager to suit up. I’ll just take some medicine for radiation poisoning. Enough for the 4 of us.

Also, I’ve had time to consider some possibilities for the alien weapons. I believe that the aliens might be using some kind of mental interface with the weapons. Example, I hold a gun, I concentrate on firing, and it fires. Might work on a principal similar to the Psionic abilities present in some people. I’ll have to try this out, or maybe have Paul try it out next time we’re planetside and have some empty cans for targets.

Crew Status: Healthy, Some trepidation about what we’ll find at the colony.
