The Ancient Way

The prophet who came to be called Rhytis the Old first started to attract followers a few years before the last malfunction of the Clock. A being of vague gender and race, Rhytis made no claim to any sort of divine status, but the large number of weird mystical happenings in its vicinity demonstrate to the faithful that it was some sort of powerful being. Two years after the end of the last malfunction, Rhytis disappeared and has not been seen since. The prophet’s collected sayings and chronicles of its miracles have been combined into the Book of Rhytis. The First Testament of Rhytis is also a book of significance. The faithful say that Rhytis will return.

  • temples: Proper temples to the prophet are only built on locations where the Old One actually stood. Such temples are consecrated in a number of ways (magical and non) and it is the understanding of the church that these buildings can never be deconsecrated. In other locations, small shrines may be constructed, but they are never as opulent as the formal temples. Shrines on the Infinite Staircase are quite common.
