The Talon
The Talon take the (in their mind quite reasonable) attitude that the safest place to be is with the strongest allies. In their estimation, the strongest allies are dragons. Dragons, of course, are always happy to be seen as big, powerful, nasty, and worthy of others’ toadying. Thus, there’s some debate as to whether the dragons or the non-dragons started the Talon. In any case, while not a particularly large phyle, they’re one with which people rarely pick a fight. (For an obvious exception, see Siege of Dragons.)
- phyle badge: Members of the Talon usually display the image of a dragon’s head prominently somewhere on their person.

- member obligations: Talons are expected to come to the aid of any dragon (including non-phyle dragons if such aid does not hurt the phyle) should such aid be needed.

- typical members: Dragons; lizardfolk, troglodytes, kobolds, and other scaled people; sorcerers;
- allies: The Talon are secure enough in their strength that they do not often seek out allies.
- enemies: Few phyles are interested in open conflict with the Talon – both physical and magical combat are dangerous propositions when your opponents are dragons.

- don’t mess with us because: Umm… big dragons? Nasty dragons? You figure it out.
- common religions: The Cult of the Dragon is by far the most prominent, although Elementalism and the Great Philosophy have their representatives.
- restrictions, attitudes towards purity and taint: The Talon is largely unconcerned with the battles between Purity and Taint – they have their own secure, scaled source of power
