The Tree of Life

The Tree teaches that family is the most important thing, and that the spirits of our ancestors continually watch over us. A devout practitioner of the Tree is expected to venerate seven generations of ancestors, with the greatest devotion being shown to the dead of the closest generation.

  • cleric training: Clerics of the Tree are generally instructed in the basic tenents and practices by their parents, grandparents, and other relatives.
  • quests: The righting of wrongs done to ancestors figures highly in the quests of practitioners of the Tree.
  • prayers: Invocations are usually made to specific ancestors for intervention with matters to which they can relate.
  • temples: Aside from family crypts and mausoleums, small shrines in the family home are the most common worship sites. Only the most prosperous families can afford to build proper temples.
  • rites: Funerals and death anniversaries are generally times for offerings to the Ancestors. Offerings usually include favourite foods of the departed, as well as special ancestral gifts (costs ranging from 5sp up to extremely expensive) which are burned in sacrificial fires.
  • heralds and allies:
  • typical worshippers: Dwarves, Common Folk
  • domains: Community, Courage, Endurance, Healing, Pact, Protection
  • holy symbol: The image of a departed ancestor
  • favoured weapon: Flail, “Tradition”
