The Warm Hearth

Tenders of the Warm Hearth worship a collection of house gods who are concerned with the smooth functioning of the family. Hearthens are generally very pragmatic in matters of religion. Offerings are made to the gods, but that doesn’t mean that you don’t have to sweep the floor. Prominent deities in the Warm Hearth are the gods of the kitchen, the front door, the wine god (who oversees parties and social functions), the spirit of coins, and the guardian of windows – all have a variety of names, but are usually referred to by title.

  • cleric training: Hearthens are almost always brought into the faith by members of their household. In a community where the Hearth is strong, the overseer of the local temple will select promising candidates for the priesthood from the local population.
  • quests:
  • prayers:
  • temples: Hearthens generally keep a number of small shrines throughout their own homes. In communities where the Hearth is strong, someone’s home will usually be used as a more formal temple. Such temples are still used as homes as well.
  • rites: The most important rites of the Hearth are small recognitions sprinkled throughout the day – an offering of food to the kitchen god before a meal, a small bow just before crossing a doorway, a special token kept in one’s coin purse and so on.
  • heralds and allies:
  • typical worshipers:
  • domains: Commerce, Community, Feast, Luck, Protection, Wealth
  • holy symbol: A hearth
  • favoured weapon: Greataxe, “Doorwarden”
