Police sketch

At Approximately 1:30 pm after Evelyn Linder Director of Emmanual Good Samaritan Hospital returned from lunch,an unknown male assailant came into Linder’s office, gaining access by telling Linder’s secretary that he was with the Portland Fire Department. She was shot once in the face and dead by the time they brought her down to Emergency.

Images on the hospital’s security camera show a husky individual 6’1" weighing 230 lbs-240lbs. He was wearing a dark button up work shirt and black denim pants. Police interviewed Linder’s secretary Carolyn Kirk with a police sketch artist and was able to obtain the above composite sketch. Police are continuing to interview all hospital employees. Many are horrified and shocked that such a thing could happen at her hospital where she was both driven and well-respected by her co-workers and peers. Police are also interviewing her husband of 38 years.

Police are asking any witnesses who saw the incident to come forward or who might recognize the assailant. Please contact Detective David Hartford at 503-833-7707
