Introduction
The campaign begins in the town of Riverside, a small settlement on the outskirts of what used to be the Zaranth empire. The Zaranthian ruled the land through an age of prosperity before their power and influence suddenly waned and the empire fell nearly a thousand years ago. No one today knows the true reason for their rapid demise, although rumors and legends are still debated by scholars and whispered over tankards of ale across the land.
Riverside stands at a fork in the Brightwater; a wide, swift-running river that wends its way from the Silverspire Mountains in the west down to the Onerach Sea in the east. An old growth forest, called the Ravenswood by locals, slowly encroaches upon the civilized lands from the south, and a sprawling valley to the east is dotted with outlying farms.
Region
Krondall – Capital city of the region, halfway to the Onerach Sea from Riverside, currently ruled by Duke Severim Albrecht.
Riverside – A small trade town at a fork in the Brightwater River that sits in the valley of Arkendale, Riverside is the starting location for the campaign.
Silverspire Mountains – Tall and imposing, the Silverspires are so named for the bright metallic glow of the sun reflecting off their snowy peaks at midday. The mountains are home to the dwarven Morgrim clan. Few residents of the valley have ventured into the mountains, and fewer still know what lies beyond them to the west.
Arkendale – A sprawling valley dotted with farms and villages that sits east of the Silverspire Mountains and north of the Ravenswood. Home to the town of Riverside.
Maha Vira – Home to Silance and Teremia, several days travel west of the Silverspire mountains. Few residents of the valley have ventured into the mountains, other than the dwarves who live there, and fewer still know what lies beyond them to the west.

Races
| Dragonborn | Proud descendants of the great beasts that rule huge tracts of the outside world, Dragonborn in Riverside often seek escape from persecution by those their progenitors oppress. |
| Dwarves | Common in Riverside, dwarves trade tools, weapons, and trinkets forged in their halls deep within the Silverspires for grain and produce, and they are often contracted for building and repair work in the town. |
| Elves | Coming to Riverside from the Ravenwood, elves trade finely crafted bows, furniture, and carvings for dwarven and human goods. Recently, a crop of younger elves exhibiting more human-like qualities have been regular visitors to the town. |
| Eladrin | Relatively rare in Riverside, the Eladrin that occasionally pass through are often wandering adventurers or emissaries from the kingdom of Siri’lun, rumored to exist in the Feywild, on their way to meet with Duke Severim Alfract in Kondall, the region’s capital city. |
| Goblins | A small tribe of goblins occupies some territory a few miles down the Brightwater from Riverside. Their chieftess Dalex claims that her people desire only an easier life, and an uneasy peace exists between the two communities. |
| Half-Elves | Most of the half-elves found in Riverside are the offspring of passing adventures or juvenile elves from the woods indulging in their youthful excesses. |
| Halflings | Masters of trade on the river, halflings are savvy merchants, wily rogues, and amazingly adaptable. They often fill the niches in society left by the other races. |
| Humans | The bulk of Riverside’s population, most of them today are rooted in their own lives and simply surviving in the vast and unfriendly world. |
| Tieflings | Outcasts from their own homes and societies, the few tieflings found in Riverside are generally secretive and try to remain out of the public eye for reasons known only to themselves. |
Politics
Treaty of Iathenun – An agreement between the people of Riverside and the Black Spider goblins, brokered by Ssudah Mau Makan and his companions.
