Currently, our game has 9 players, 11 if everyone (including the part-time players) all showed up at once. Considering the typical size of a party is 4 players, our group is extremely large. Because of this, my standard answer to adding a new player is “No, we are full and our group is closed”.
That being said, I really try hard not to exclude people that are friends of current players, are very experienced RPers, or are gamers who I think will bring more fun to our current game. If you know someone who really wants to play, please pass their info along to me and I will call them and talk with them about our group, the game, and the style of play we run. If I feel they are a good fit, I will add them to our waiting list. We can then decide as a group to call and invite them if we lose someone from our group, either due to work or real life issues. On rare occasion, I may find a player or players who I think will really add a lot to our group and talk to you all about adding them in addition to our current players. Congrats JT, Kelli, and Steve, this was the case with all of you.
Right now, I can tell you that I cannot add anyone else without losing my mind as a DM. Nine pushes the limit, but 10 is just too many, and I have found this out the hard way in the last campaign.
