I’m working on figuring a pseudo-currency methodology. Roughly speaking, it will be using the basic concept of having the matter converter burn unneeded items into power equal to 1/2 the items value, and being able to create items for full price.

The simplicity behind this is obvious.

The ability for abuse is also obvious if I just used something equating mass into energy. Imagine the heroes decide to just land next to a great big old lake and draining water at 8lbs per gallon and pumping it into the matter converter.

And so, some willing suspension (regarding artificialities) needs to exist. For example, creating armor for non-humanoids costs extra, because the matter converter isn’t programmed for them naturally.

“Training” the matter converter to make new items would be done something like: burn the new item into the matter converter, and spend an additional 3x its value in energy to have the device “learn” the new matrix. From then on, it can make the new item for normal price.

I would very much like to hear comments on this.
