Moreau Shipping Company
Owned and operated by the Moreau Family, the Moreau Shipping company is headquartered in Port-a-Lucine, Dementlieu. The company has been in business for over three generations since receiving a state charter. Officially Louis Moreau IV runs the business, but in reality it is his younger brother Pierre who oversees the strategic and day-to-day operations of the company.
The company imports and exports all types of goods to and from Dementlieu to the neighboring countries. The companies success is largely are result of good business practices by the family and a bit of good luck.
In 747, the Company secured lucrative business contracts with merchants in the city of Mortigny in Richemulot, with the assistance of Evan Moreau who was visiting the city. The ongoing political unrest in Richemulot has only increased their need for foreign goods, and these contracts have continued to enhance the Company’s profits.
The Moreau Shipping Company is one of a very small number of companies that regularly brings exotic goods from Sri Raji into the main core. This was made possible after a successful year long expedition to that country led by Evan Moreau in 752. Although still a treacherous journey, its profits have greatly benefited the Company.
The success of the Company has created many enemies of the Moreau Family, principally those individuals who have lost out on contracts and other business to the Company. In one extreme incident, Pierre Moreau was the target of an assassination attempt at a ballet in 754. Fortunately the assassin only wounded his brother Evan before making his escape. He was never apprehended.
In 756, with the acquisition of the De Rossi Family Estates in Borca, the Moreau Shipping Company expanded its trading to include most of the western core nations. If not for the actions of Evan, including killing Morgan De Rossi, the Shipping Company would have lost the opportunity to expand its business.
