Finally, we get a chance to prove our use to Hannah again. They need a low profile, secure run to transport a Bothan – Joni On – to Alderaan. To sweeten the deal for us we pick up some bulk goods, a mining droid and an Ishi-tib passenger – Hycoon. A smooth run, until I punched up a jump.
Either the sith-spawned K’lorslug hatchlings chewed through the hyperdrive power coupling or Manco has been performing unauthorised upgrades again. Whatever the case the hyperdrive was clearly borked and we are ripped out of the big L by the gravity well of a moon that clearly shouldn’t have been there. Our passengers only become agitated when I explain that towing moons into space lanes is an old pirate trick. I can be as smooth as the surface of a neutron star when I need to be.
After 15 hours trying to locate us in the galaxy, not only is Arri barvy on spice but he’s brought the bothan in on it too. Meanwhile the black sheep of our crew, Vrinko, has forgotten who dropped who through plate glass on our last expedition and seems to think my calculations are wrong. I’ve bitten off more than I can chew taking this fishhead on, maybe he should be guiding the ship with his wizard powers.
The hyperdrive misfires again and we take longer than expected to get to Alderaan although only Vrinko seems to mind. We say our goodbyes to Joni On and collect some more bulk freight while Hycoon makes a call to his employer to explain the delay, lucky there is no discount for late delivery.
Just as we arrive at Denom, Vrinko coms that Hycoon has disappeared. A frantic search finds him tampering with the mining droid and when confronted he takes bucket of bolts hostage and demands that he be released with the droid. He chose the wrong crew to cross. As soon as I closed the docking ramp the nerfherder had as much chance of getting out as a Hutt riding a swoop. Arri quickly overpowered him and I set off to contact his employer. This could be another opportunity to make some easy credits.
